Black Label and White Lies

Just doing a little window shopping at the liquor store, and was shocked to see a fifth of Wild Turkey 101 going for $32.99! A jug was almost $50! I used to get 750ml for $8.95, and that rot-gut Jim Beam for two dollars less. That's one part of my youth I don't miss.

I think it all comes to the price of gas and the price of every thing else. I still remember buying a brick of 22LR as in 500 rounds for around $10 but now it is more like $40

Tell me about it. I figured when I moved to Michigan from Connecticut, being closer to Canada, the canadian whiskey I like to guzzle would be cheaper. It was more expensive! Then I read the label; 'bottled in Norwalk CT'. Life ain't fair.

Liquor in general, and bourbon in particular has fell victim to the same problem as so many other things in todays world. People think the higher the price, the higher the quality. Some mediocre products with unreasonable prices have found their way into the high end catagory. Excellence isn't usually cheap, but expensive isn't always excellence.

I lived in Norwalk CT back in 1975 when I was going to sub school in the navy. Never did see any place like that there but then back then I probably was looking more for females then places that bottled spirits

There is no shortage of corn. Corn isn't as cheap as it once was, but there's still an abundant supply. Put up the money and you can buy all the corn you want.

With prices like that and cigarettes at over five dollars a pack guess it is no fun going out to the bar to drink and smoke, then there is no smoking in the bars anymore if I heard right. I finally had it with all these high prices two years ago, I quit buying everything except food and I buy very little of that. Makes for a pretty dull life but life isn't all that exciting anyway.

I got a ruger 10-22 for Christmas and went to digging for a box of 525 round Remington LR. Finally found them stuck back in a drawer. Had a $9.99 sticker on them. Don't remember when I bought them.

rodgernbama, Yep we must have bought them at the same time you did,we have a box (525 rounds) Federal for $9.99,but no date.We went to Walmart yesterday in Hayward,Wi, they had a couple of boxes of 22 lr (325 rounds) going for $28.99 and had the same amount when we left. A couple of days before Rice Lake had 22 LR (525 rounds) Remington Golden for $25.99 per box, when we left they were short a couple of boxes, can never have to many 22 ammunition.

Your lucky Wal-Mart had any 22LR. From what I have heard Wal-Mart has canceled ALL orders of any ammo till they know what the idiot in D.C is going to do

It'll cost you even more if you come to Canada and buy it. SIN TAXES, they figure they can cure all us "SINNERS" if they hit us in the wallet. Rocko.

Anyone tried Junior Johnson's "Midnight Moon"? It's made from his families old recipe. I personally was not too impressed with it, but then I lean more toward bourbon. (And after a few shots, I lean a whole lot more! Generally I have to lean against something.)

Well, it is hard to get 22 LR ammo right now. Everybody is hoarding all the other stuff and buying the 22 LR to shoot. It's pretty tough to find right now. Heck, the 25 round 10/22 mags were $25, now they are $75 if you can find them. Backorder till April!

Praise the lord for Bill Klinton. thanks to his anti-gun scare back in about 1994, I stocked up on powder, primers, bullets, and loaded ammunition. I have enough to last me till I am about 205 years old.

There is a simple answer to the high price of booze - don't drink any!!!!!!!

Being allegic to alcohol is one of my greatest blessings!

Yep people are both scared of the government and what it may try to do. One heck of a boom for gun shops if they had a good stock on hand before this thing in D.C. started
