Rubber flighting Augers

I just bought a 8" auger for loading my feed bin. It has rubber flighting all the way up, its a 51 footer. This auger is older, but it has a sticker labeling it as a "soybean special" Now I'm not gonna be running this auger alot and I'm sure it will work just fine for me, but I've never seen this before. I'm just wondering the pros and cons of rubber flighting. The biggest negatives I can think of are wear to the flighting and possibly taking more power to run it due to drag. (PTO drive) Just curious on your thoughts

Yea, bristle and plastic augers are common for seed and fertilizer, but hadn't really seen a rubberized one either?

It might not be the same with an auger, but have you ever seen what a thin rubber oil seal can do to a shaft?
We use a lot of auger flighting over here with an open centre...just like a spring. I think it is spring steel and the auger tubing is plastic. There was a bit of hesitation to using it at the start but nowadays nearly all augers are this way. A smaller diameter auger can move more stuff faster as there is an open bore for stuff to move in, and it is very quiet for putting feed into livestock and poultry houses.
