O/T home based business

Was just thinking about topic discussion below about how much time spent on computer and wondered how many of us worked from home or had a small business based out of home? I work part time driving semi and work part time at home doing construction consulting. To keep this tractor related I do occasionally work on tractors in my garage as a side job also.

I have a cow calf operation here. My home based business consists of a Cat 953-C track loader. I mainly work on other folks farms, building ponds, cleaning out ponds, clearing brush and so on. Today I went and looked at cleaning out a pond and installing a water line and tank. He also wants me to give him a price on building another pond. This really works well for me. Right now work is slow, which gives me time to feed. Then this summer when its time to put up hay, I will have the time to do that as well. A win win for me and loving what I do helps.

I've been a tool and die designer for about 35 years, self-employed for the last 25 years. Bought my first computer when I started in busness. It was a 386 with 4 meg of ram and 40 meg hard drive. I probably average 65 hours a week in front of the screen and still find time to farm about 60 acres. Raise around 60 hogs, 6 to 20 lamb, a couple dairy steer a year and a daughter and son. I use a Massey 65 diesel, a Ferguson TEA-20 and a Kubota B7100hst. Plant 20 acres of field corn, 5 acres of oats the rest is hay. We also have a green house and farm stand that I help the wife with we put out 3 acer of sweet corn and another 3 acre of other veggies. I chair our township Board of Zoning Appeals, volunteer on the Jr. Fair Sheep Committee and Marketing Committee. I think I should take a nap.
