Sold a pickup today I've owned since 1975. I was 15. Didn't want to watch it rot away. Like a death in the family.

I could cheer you up and you could cheer me up by purchasing my '67 F100...came otta Florida...no test driving until spring when the salt if gone from the roads though...ok, now were both sad again.

Yes, we hate to see them go, and it's hard to let go. I am facing that same dilemma. I have too many vehicles, can only drive one at a time, but I'm having a hard time deciding which to sell and which to keep.

Nice looking truck. My first truck was a '66 F100. I bought it in 1974 when I was 17. It had a 352 and 3 on the tree. I wish I had it today.

I have to admit to shedding a tear as I watched my '03 International dump truck drive away without me. As much as I enjoyed it, I had to admit that working construction was not viable in 2007.

I had a '65,it wore a "Mercury" badge, looked identical to your truck, same colour. It was seven or eight years old when I bought it used,I drove it for about 5 years and then bought a new pickup. I sold it to a guy in town and he drove it for five years and sold it to someone out of town, never saw it again. It was a six cylinder, stick shift, but it was a smooth running old truck. I don't know why the Canadain market badged the trucks as Mercury, guess the same reason Dodge/Fargo badges

Tony, I had A 1963 F100 PU. I got it used, but drove it A long time. It had three on the tree. I always like overdrive in one. I found A used trans. with O/D in it at A wrecking yard. I bought it with D/S. Put it in my 63 PU, it work good. I was driving 70 miles A day to work. I put way over 100,000.miles on it.

I findly bought me A new 1971 F150 PU. with O/D.
I put over 200,000 in it.
This is A duplicate pic. of mine.

I know what you mean..Last Friday I sent my 1967 Ford Ranger F-100 down the road as I hadnt driven it in 3 years..I'd owned it since 2002..A young man in his 20's bought it..It runs great but has quite a bit of rust and will need some work..

The memories go back farther than that as in 1968 Dad bought a candy apple red 1967 Ford Ranger that we used for quite a few years on our farm..Thats me sitting in it in 1968..

Hammerman, You're a man after my own heart; sure do love those ol' overdrive trannys. Had several in the good ol' days with the flathead Fords.
Bought a '75 F-100 Shortbed with 300 six brand new.
Big step for me. LOL
No O.D. available in the P.U.s during that period.
I put in a '56 Ford tranny with a '51 O.D.attached to it when it had only 1,500 miles. Eventually replaced that light duty with the T-85/R-11 Heavy Duty O.D. Drove it 144,000 miles before I retired it.
I calculated the effective gear ratio to be 2.59:1 with the 3:70 gears and 30% overdrive.
That combo worked well with the torque of the six.
I still have a collection of various OD trannys and parts that I'll probably never use. Gettin' too old!! Besides, the hot setup now is the "world class" T-5 trannys!!

here is my grandfather's he bought new i still drive it from time to time the windshield looks foggy but it is ice it cover everything early this morning

My oldest son and I restored a '64 Ford PU for him to drive to school. He drove it for three years, I used it here on the farm until '92, and finally sold it. It had a spot in my heart but the old Michigan rust was getting to her pretty bad.

Seriously, tho--nice truck.
My Uncle's pride and joy was his 65F700 with a Holmes600 tow bed.
Dually, air brakes, older restoration.
I bought it off his estate, then my truck went down so I had to pay to have it hauled here.
Now that its home I have no idea what to do with it,
but couldn't stand to see it go.
Maybe I'll build a shed over it.
Wish I had ability to post a pic.
I need to get it in outta the weather,
but my machine shed is full.
Hard to part with something like that.
I feel for ya.
