i just shot some paint on a pickup cap, acrylic enamel and forgot to add the hardner, want to give it another coat,...should i add the hardner to the next coat

If it's industrial paint you may be ok to put hardner in the second coat. If you don't put hardner in you will not be able to wash or even touch the truck without scratching in. If it's automotive paint and you are doing a really nice paint job, I would wash it off with thinners and start again.

not sure which line you are shooting, but, if the enamel can be used without hardener, go ahead and shoot the rest of the coats without hardener. let it dry and you should be fine. it will take longer to dry.

Most enamels can be used without hardner. I'm not sure about acrylic enamel. The reason it tacked up fast is because you didn't use the hardner. Hardner slow's down the flash time and cure time.

Acrylic enamel [u:b4a4e6ab31]can[/u:b4a4e6ab31] be sprayed without hardener. If you didn't use hardener in the first coat and then use it in the top coat, your top coat will either blister or crack. The solvent's cure slower in the bottom coat and the ethers have to go some where, so they break through the top surface that has cured or dried faster due to the hardner in the top coat. What ever you used in the first coat...ditto the second coat.

It will dry to touch faster without catylist but will "cure" faster and harder with catylist. You should be ok to do what you are asking.
