Is this crud the flue or a head cold.

My head hasn't been plugged up this bad for years and it's been hanging in there for two weeks now. Sinus headache, sore throat, plugged ears and coughing myself to sleep every night. I don't have chills and most of my energy is still there so I'm still motating ok. It's just this miserable head that's ruining the day. Is this the flu they talk about or just a run of the mill cold? No, I haven't had the shot. I'm not against it, I just don't bother to get it. Maybe the head would feel better if I stuck it in a snow drift for awhile. LOL. Jim

Guess what, we have had the same thing over here in Northern Ireland since Christmas eve. The children are back to school but are wrecked every evening and just want to sleep, I cannot stop sweating, even just driving the tractor tires me out....Now I know I must have caught something infectious from this forum!!!!

When I was a kid about 50 years ago, the flu was what made you go hug the porcelain throne.

Everything else was a common cold.

Jim, I'm just getting thru the crud. No temp, nose and sinuses putting out enuf snot for a retail business, chest congestion and cough. Don't really feel bad (except for a few days initially), but no get up and go and hard to get a good night of sleep. It RUINED my deer hunting season. I finally went to the docs after a month, and she gave me an antibiotic and a decongestant. That was a week and a half ago, and I'm just starting to feel better. I still have some cough, but it's not bad. Get some medicine, and stay on top of it. It's a real beyotch.....

If you have the flu you'll know it! Ha Ha. You will have high fever, terrible body aches, not enough energy to get yourself to the restroom kinda symptoms.

I have had the blasted flu 4 times in my short 29 years. I skip the colds every year but really enjoy the flu about every five or 6 years.... My experience with the flu has been with very little head congestion. It is mainly extreem irritation to the lungs/bronchi etc. My experience with a cold has been more of the sore throat and head congestion. I'll take three good colds over one dose of the flu. I have been in bed with the flu thinking that I really was going to die but I didnt care thinking it would be better :) I have even had my hair and teeth hurt with the flu.

I'm no Dr. but I think you likely have a cold but it may have turned into a bit of a secondary infection from the sinus inflamation and irritation. If you are having splitting head aches, or if your face or eyes are giving you serious pains. Go see the Doc.. Long term infections are not good for the body.

I got something in early November that just hung on and on. I think I am finally over it, but it sure did mess up my enjoyment of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Since I had chills and fevers, as well as body aches, I suspect that it was flu, but I also may have had a cold at the same time or right after the flu. I always have some trouble with nasal congestion and sinus pressure, but I got a real bad sinus infection, which caused me to need to use antibiotics, which I try to avoid.

Usually if I get a cold, I spend a day feeling like I might be getting a cold, another day starting to feel sick, another day feeling just plain lousy and doing nothing, another day feeling quite a bit better and then a couple of days coughing and blowing out the congestion, but not feeling that bad.

With this last whatever-it-was, it took lots longer, and when I thought I was getting over it, the bad symptoms would come back. I sure hope I am immune now, because I was as sick as I have been in YEARS.

Hope you feel better soon!

(quoted from post at 12:25:42 01/10/13) What's a doctor? LOL I'm not down and out, just
crabby. Jim
went to the doctor after about 10 days of the same sounding crap. He said only
'tincture of time' will make you well, that will be $xx. Oh, and by the way unless your body is strong enough to fight off a viral infection, you just die. Antibiotics are for bacterial infections. Great, huh?

My guess would be, some new virus the CDC has released on the population to see how they will react. All part of the New World Order plan to reduce the population to a smaller level so there isn't as much pollution.

I had it 2 weeks before I went to the doc, been on antibiotics and prednisone for 3 days now. Said I had bronchitis, I'm finally feeling better but still coughing.

What's going around now is called RSV, respiratory syncytial virus.

I'm pretty sure that's what I'm starting to get over now...

Check oldtanker's post on ice fishing and the locale in the link provided by him...then go ice fishing, NOT house fishing...preferably around 7*...that should kill off some bugs in your system. After a week in Minnesnowta with those conditions you'll feel much better...................................right back at ya...................
your welcome.
