That's EXACTLY the pickup I drove to my first farm job, summers of 1962 to 1965, age 13 to 16. 3 window, same color. Put up hay, changed irrigation pipes, chased cows around. Strangest duty? "Bring your swim suit, fins and mask tomorrow". Had to go down in a pond with a well at the bottom, and try to free up a well pipe that was stuck. Me and the owner's son eventually got the job done- Owner laughed and said "I just don't know about paying you guys to go swimming"- but of course, he did.

Very nice. Lots of green Chevy pickups. I purchased a '51 1/2 ton ~ 1980 for $850; sold it for $1200 or $1300 about 12 years later. Cab corners and back of front fenders and drivers floor board rusted out. I remember the center vent and going up hill when it was raining and the wipers would slow waaaaaaaayyy down. Nice picture.

1950 what??? My son has a 1951 that if he can ever get the $$ to fix up will be getting on the road. I started building and engine for it but when the navy down sized him he ran out of $$ to finish it

I;m just finishing tear down on a 53 3100. Going to install a 4bt cummins and 700r4 in it. Leaving at stock height and adding only adding a few goodies.

1952, 98% original including factory paint. factory spare still in place. 107k miles. barn find, i purchased it from the original owners son in 1996.

As a career Navy retiree I am curious about that downsizing. He was SeaB right? WHat was his rating? E5? How many years did he have? Did they give him a bonus? Did he have the obligatory GCD medals?
I( keep in touch with a number od Senators and have had some success in working out military problems.
Gordo CDR USN (ret)

Down sized as in external_link has cut things and of the battlains (sp) of the seabees his and a good number of others are no longer there and yes he signed up for 6 years did 3 and no he was not in long enough to get past E-3. At least now I understand why you think the way you do you where an officer or in other words a FUBR

Did they come in any color besides green? I honestly don't remember ever seeing anything else unless it had been repainted. Anyhow, I like it!

forester green was the standard color, however other factory colors could be ordered at no extra cost.

We had a 48 just like it.After about 1950 they had the new style door locks, brakes and the 235 engine Much better trucks. They came in green, black and blue. After the war trucks were hard to get.My father paid $1800 for the delux model, chrome bumper, five windows,,and ceiling liner.A fancy truck for its time.He said the old 36 ford had only about two more trips to the market in Houston left in it.We hauled a lot of vegetables, corn, fertilizer, cattle trailer and more. But the 216 engine, bad brakes and doors that wouldnt stay closed ,we sold it in 1981 for $1500.
