Son finished the holster(less coloring) it took about 4 days to make. Now my daughter wants one for her 357. It takes a lot of patience to do this, something I'm not well known for. Any way now the 22 convertable has a home. Gonna enjoy shooting targets while I still have a reasonable amount of eye sight left. LOU.

Looks good Lou, did he make the belt also? It's nice to see someone still have that skill. J

JayinNY,
Yep, both holster and belt, everything you see minus the buckle, and a couple of Chicago screws. All free hand work, no leather sewing machine, they are too expensive for a few holsters and other leather products that he makes. He finished a shoulder holster for my PPK/S a month or so ago. He buys bulk leather, double shoulder vegie tanned, from local outfit, cuts the leather, glues it and sews it by hand with needle and wax thread, then stains to suit. So far to date,he made 6 holsters, 4 magazine pouches.Only one more for his Sisters pistol(belt, holster w/cartridge loops included on belt.
Thank you for the kind reply,
LOU

J.Wondergem,
We looked in magazines/internet at leather products, and they get quite expensive.I can see the cost is justified by the amount of time my Son put into these projects.Making our own,we know the quality of leather, stitching, and bonding agent, and hardware makes them worth it to us. Appreciate our reply,
LOU

Justin SE IOWA,
Thank you for the reply. It took about 5-6 days to make from sheet leather to what you seen in the picture today. My 1911 is alot of weight for this old man to pack around, so my son made me a shoulder holster for the PPK,it works wonderful for me.He also made his shoulder holster for his 1911 longslide, and an outside waist band holster for it also. As a winter project it helps deal with the monotonous overcast dreary days, it's nice to see something like these holsters come about, plus its easier on the weapons than the kydex type holsters.Again thanks for the post.

Good job! I like it. They say everybody is good at something. Some of us are going to have to find out what it is pretty soon.

Tony Vidlak,
Thank you Tony, he has some great ones, only thing I can best him at is piano playing, lol. That's because he doesn't practice. He does have some arrangements( originals) copywritten. And yet I still can't make a holster.lol. I'm too old to learn, plus fingers won't handle the hard pressure. Thanks for the reply.
Warmest regards,
LOU

VicS,
It all takes time to figure it all out, that's why some of us live longer to try and learn what we are good at.lol. It's why it's called the School of life, some are better students than others.lol.
Thanks for the reply,
Regards, LOU

Looks real good Lou. You shold have him make a shoulder rig for a 1911 with a couple of mag pouches!!!!!! For ME!!!!!

Rick

you say easier on the weapon,..don't store the weapon or ammo in the leather, the tanning solution will rust your blued weapon and corrode the brass shells,..BTDT,..he should look into makeing a small business outta that,.. looks great...

(quoted from post at 05:04:33 01/08/13)don't store the weapon or ammo in the leather, the tanning solution will rust your blued weapon and corrode the brass shells,..BTDT,

I have a Glock that has spent all of its non shooting time loaded inside a leather holster since 2001, and it looks like like the day it came from the gun shop and the shells still shinny as new...

Nice work!

Made a few myself for cowboy shooting. This is a Pike Holster for Wild Bunch shooting that I made a few years ago. You can get lots of patterns from Tandy and the hobby is quite entertaining. Mine are all hand made also.
