How often do you use a speedi-sleeve?

Working on Dad's 300U and between it and my A, I think I could keep a distributor of speedi-sleeve in business. Do you guys use speedi-sleeves on a lot of you shafts or am I just getting lucky lately? Seems like most every shaft I pull has a groove wore into it.

I have mostly used them on automotive pinion yolks. The old leather seals pick up dust that grinds away things over 50 or 60 years.

That is not to say I have not had things like axels have wear, but often the new seal seats in a slightly different location where the shaft is good.

But I mostly work on really old stuff. Expensive, but they do the job.

I have used them on things that didn't want to stay sealed well, looked really bad,or the shaft would not polish up. I do ALOT of polishing to get rid of the light grooves.

I use them when the sleeve is cheaper than the repair at the machine shop. or a part is obsolete or the machine shop cant do it due to the part destorting, while building it up with weld for re machining. some years I use a lot depends what im doing in the shop.
