Detroits screem, not roar. LOL There is a fellow around here that has one that I have pics of, but not going to sort threw 1600 plus pics tonight to post.
Later, Loren, the Acg.

Just type in. john deere 435 after you get to you tube, and you will see my 435 and B and D's 435 pulling and also one of his in the shed, by his boys. I like them because they are different. :) Vic

The old truckers said that Detroit engines are like some girls---they make alot of noise in town, but get them out in the country and they won't PUTOUT!!!!

You are another YT poster already drunk out of your mind on New Years Eve.
You are trying to tell us that #2 15ppm ultra low sulphur diesel smells different from a Cat than from a 2-53?

Where did he say a Cat engine was involved? I thought that there were more than 2 diesel engine suppliers for tractors in 1950? A properly tuned engine running on diesel won't have a distinguishing odor, but the sound sure is. Hell, you are aware of that one.

After watching your video B&D, I would have to say that is one impressive little tractor. It dont get much better than that.

Yes expert, the 3-71 in my Massey 98 was one stinkin mf. Nothing at all like my Perkins and Valmets. I'm sure you think your little 435 is adorable, but like any other attempt JD made at that time it's designed around a seat. Those little JD's from that era are an abortion. Not even in the same ballpark as the small Fords and Masseys.

I"m sure you"ll disagree. Since the Detroit is a 2 stroke and every stroke is a power stroke, it would come to reason that it would produce twice as much burnt exhaust per revolution as a 4 stroke. Hence, twice as "stinky".

Ford??? Isn't that the company the folded , bought out and merged with Sperry-New Holland then was bought out by Fiat? With head office in Itally.
Massey, the company that started in NewCastle Ontario in 1847? Merged with Harris then later with Ferguson in 1953. Bought out by Conrad Black in the 1970's becasue the company was loosing money.
In 1981, Argus donated its shares in Massey Ferguson to the employee's pension plans, leading the way to a $250 million bail-out from the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario for the collapsing company which later renamed itself Varity Corporation. In the mid 1980s, Varity spun off several money-losing divisions into an entity called Massey Combines Corporation. Massey Combines Corporation was headquartered in Brantford, Ontario and became insolvent on March 8, 1998, and its assets were re-acquired by Massey Ferguson.
In 1992, a management buyout of MF Industrial created the company Fermec, which finally ceased trading in 2001 when it was taken over by the Terex Corporation (Terex was formerly a unit of General Motors). This encompassed all construction equipment from Massey. It was then purchased by J. I. Case Company in 1997.[14]
Varity left Toronto and relocated to their head offices to the Williams-Butler House at 672 Delaware Avenue in the Millionaire Row area of Buffalo, New York.
In 1995 Massey Ferguson’s worldwide holdings were purchased by the US-based AGCO Corporation. In August 1996, Varity merged with Lucas Automotive to become LucasVarity.
After a series of mergers and take-overs, the remains of LucasVarity were taken over by the US company TRW.

The Dubuque two cylinders always had live hydraulics, more weight and working brakes which Fords sorely lacked.
By 1957 the Dubuques had live pto and power steering.
From 1958 and since Deere became a major player in the industrial market with the 440 and it's Dubuque decendents.
Where are your facts?
