i am trying to do inframe overhaul on ad3/40a.but have run into a problem. two of my pistons are bad and i can not find replacements in US.if anyone knows where i can find new or good used ones.please let me know.if not i saw a posting that someone converted an ad3/40a to an ad3/55. any information on pistons or conversion would be much appreciated.

This will be a 4 cylinder 880? I did one up a few years back, all parts were available through the OLD 20 PARTS Co. They are a UK company, if they do not export to the US then they will have an agent there and it would be wise to contact them. Try Googleing them.

i appreciate your response but mine is a three cylinder engine that is part of the problem. piston part # k904333.

A 3/49(engine normally found in a 770) could be converted to a 3/55(engine normally found in a 780, 880, or 885) by changing the crank and pistons.

What is the diameter of your pistons, wristpin size, how many rings, and height from top of piston to center of wristpin.

Not familiar with the 3/40???

What is the tractor and engine serial number?

Odd that doesn't follow the normal DB numbering, The AD3/40 would suggest 40 Cubes per hole but the math says 51???

I did some digging, I can't find anything. I suppose worst case you could install a whole 3/55 engine. Maybe the guys in England have a source?
