off-topic: xmas eve fuel pump

All,

Merry CHRISTmas to all.

Especially anyone that may have 2001 Saturn SC1 fuel pump replacement experience...

Please advise, the garage concrete gets my shoulderblades cold, quick-like.

I changed a fuel pump on a Chevy Citation. I bought the replacement pump from our local PepBoys store. It was rust that blocked off the gas around the sock on the pickup tube. It's not a bad job once you have the fuel drained from the tank to remove the tank. You also need to remove or cut the wire for the gas gauge. I cut it and used a crimp on splice to connect the wires. Use a good flashlight to look into tank once you remove the old pump to see if the tank is clean. The engine would die when on the road, but would always restart. I installed a pressure gauge on the steel line that went to the TBI. I noticed the pressure dropping when going up a hill after I installed the gauge. Would be nice to have a pit so you don't lay on your back. Hal

Crimp splices work if you put the good heat shrink sleeves over them, the ones with glue inside. Also there are premium crimp splices that come with heat shrink already on them.
