MERRY CHRISTMAS! But a gripe...

Why in the world do they make some stuff so hard to unwrap? Meaning the shrink wrapped stuff.

Not looking forward to tomorrow. I had a stroke in May, so my right hand is all but worthless. Scissors are made for right handed people. I bought a pair of left hand scissors, but I was right handed before. It will take some learning. DOUG

Doug,
Quickblade makes a very nice folding box cutter. When folded it is a small, thin oval - so you could keep one in your pocket or in a nearby drawer. Works much better than a scissor - safer than a knife.

simple answer: it's extremely cheap, easy to show off the product inside, and very easy to seal up without any human intervention.

And manufacturer's know that it's not going to keep consumers from purchasing their products, since the problem only presents itself once you've handed over your money.

All that being said - it's the worst thing to hit consumers since the concept of "some assembly required". Much worse actually. Can't STAND the stuff.

But I recommend you buy a big pair of tin snips, that's what I use. Don't try to be delicate, just chop it up and shake out whatever's left.

Doug, good to hear from you. i too had a stroke in 2011. i was, repeat was, left handed, now pretty much converted to right handed. i have some use of left hand but whole left side is weakened and partially numb. try not to let it get me down but going from can to maybe can't has taken some getting used to. good to see you adjusting as well, keep it up. now to your post, i stated before that the best part of the product purchased today is the packaging which we throw away. shame the product is not as good as the packaging.

Been there with you - I had a stroke when I was 27. Some things come back and others don't.

Go to a teacher supply place. They have scissors for kids with motor issues. The best ones are the one that have the back of the handles joined with a plastic loop so that they spring open on their own. Very handy.

Most interesting thing about my stroke- some days I can't play games that use dice as the dots don't compute any longer. I can stare at those forever and not know the number it correlates to. I end up counting dots each time. I also can't always tell the difference between a J and a G. Funny how the brain works.

A primary reason for this kind of packaging is to discourage shoplifting: package is too big to go in the jeans pocket, and impossible to remove the product from the package without attracting attention.
