Found a Shop!

Found a good tractor and farm equipment repair shop in Ky. Took my 8N there had the clutch replaced. The man charged me $150.00 for new pressure plate ,clutch disc, throw out bearing, pilot bearing. Charged me $105.00 labor. Did I get a fair deal? He is pretty sharpe on older stuff and dose a lot of square baler repair. He works on all brands of tractors and equipment and stays busy!He is a likeable old man.

Most shops would not even open the shop door for that price, so , if it works out you got a very good deal.

you even have to ask? even a 8N takes at least 2 hrs labor turn around so he is not over charging on labor at all and parts seem in line to me and I ran my our repair shop for 20 years guess I am saying I feel you got a very fare deal cnt

Price for the parts is completely within reason, Price for labor is on the extremely reasonable side.

Good deal? Uh yea you did. You need to take him some home made cookies as a big thanks. Leave the fruitcake at the mother-in-laws.

agree with others - great deal!

In my mind that's about what it SHOULD cost assuming no complications. But still - I'd expect to pay at LEAST twice that.

Thats about a third of what I'd have expected. Last one I had done, which it both bigger and newer was 1600.

As someone who works on quipment for living I've got to say that the parts were extreemly reasonable. As far as the labor goes you got a super deal thhere too. I charge a minimum of $45 an hour labor for the smaller stuff and still don't think I could do a complete clutch job on anything in less than 2 1/2 hours.

Hmm, took me 6 hours to do my Ford 2600. I wasn't rushing and there was a good hour of figuring out how to block the tractor securely.

I think you got a pretty good deal there.
