OT driving Ambulance in Omaha

Don't they have map books in the ambulances? When I
drove ambulance in Los Angeles back in the 1970's,
every ambulance had a Thomas Guide map book in it.
That map book covered the entire County. I still
have my Thomas Guides for Southern California, and
use them whenever I go down there, they may be
outdated but they still work.

I wouldn't want the driver reading a map. Or a GPS.
Maybe on the way TO a scene, but they should know their way to the hospital.

He told her he has them in his phone! She told him he should know where the hospitals are-only 7 of them! She told him she never wants to ride with him again-this was not her normal shift!

about the same thing here i think they ought to have
to drive every road in their work area and know
every turn and do it before they are hired and every
six months there after

I mean no insult or hard feelings, but on our EMS we would
never tell of anything that has happened...no exceptions! Im
hoping your daughters boss never hears this story other
than face to face with your daughter..as it would no doubt be
a dismisal of your daughter. You may consider pooofing
your post. Again no insult intended.

If you are upset with us, there are VERRY
strict laws dealing with this issue..darn sure
nothing to laugh about. And your daughter
knows this..so I thought it best to warn you
this post could very well get your daughter
fired on the spot. Ask her if her employer
gives out warrnings? I dont remember of a
case they did not walk them to the
door...first offence. The hospital she works
for would also be in the lawsuit. And you
are ticked off at us? The fact of the matter
is also if I as a EMS provider was not on the
actual run, the others are not allowed to
discus anything connected to the run. I can
not understand you posting this, and giving
some one written proof the matter was
indeed discused with your daughter. And
again...you are upset with us?

greg dont let some of the clowns in this form git to you. most are pirty good. some are so so and alot are aholes. I was on the fire department for 13 yr,s and yes theres alot of nit wits there to. have a merry xmas. Bob

I didn't see the original post, but I can see that it is alleged by forum members to be a violation of HIPPA laws. I was in fire and EMS for 35 years and just have to tell you that within the department, there were many off the record discussions, often led by the chief, involving members who were not on the call. Typically the patient or caller or a family member was made out to be an idiot. Then, on the other side of the coin, allegations of violations of the HIPPA laws were occasionally made against some members of the department that were not in the inner circle, yet within the community were viewed as above reproach. As Badger Bob says, "yes there are a lot of nitwits there."
