More specifically, the "older" guys who have been farming and wrenching on these old rigs for a while and are in this forum that help all us out..

Back in 1992 I got my first tractor - an Oliver 550. I got it from lurking on this forum so I would make an informed decision. Mrs. ShepFL figured it was just another of my wild a$$ed hobbies (hang gliders, old trucks, etc) and this to would pass like some other fancies.

So when it came time to fix it I did what I always do...I went online and found a few Oliver forums. Now, I will find a forum for anything that I am interested in...I know the information and experience that can be found in forums.

Anyways, I when got implements I Googled Antique Implement forums again YTMAG came up first. I clicked the link and came BACK here and started reading and researching and asking questions again. This is when I became a member of the forum.

At first, I didn't expect much. I really expected to find a group of people who really didn't want to talk to the "noob" who asks too many questions. What I FOUND was the most downhome, laid back group of people I have ever had the pleasure of having a conversation with.

Over time many of you have seen my sons grow up on here from little boys, to Eagle Scouts to now serving in USN and USMC. I recall a time meeting NE Cowman to pick up a pedestal in TN; meeting Lester in NH and getting to ride another red tractor plus so many other memmories.

You guys and gals have helped me, you have taught me, you have scolded me (to make me better...PS it worked!), and you have taken time to answer any questions that I may have had, no matter how stupid they sounded to you.

Did any of you HAVE to do this? Heck no, but you took the time out of your busy lives, out of your days/hours to sit in front of your computer and help me or anyone else who has come seeking help. Your knowledge and your advice have helped us to no end.

Although I am not here as much anymore due to work demands in time I hope to be considered one of the "older" guys as I continue to grow and learn from folks here.

I hope that the advice that I have received and what bit I have contributed will let me help that guy who thought he needed a new hobby and decided to pick that Oliver :) I can only hope.

Until then, I hope you guys will continue to put up with me and our new beginner brethren as they continue to bombard you with questions that Im sure you get tired of hearing.

Having said all of that...I just want to say extend a heart felt THANK YOU and I want to wish you ALL a very BLESSED CHRISTMAS and good health in the coming New Year. And to Kim and team GOD BLESS YOU! Without you and this forum none of this would be possible for any of us.

Here is to another good year in 2013...and to this forum and the folks who visit here; heres to our friendships and continued support for the new guys!

PS - if you can afford it pls support this forum by contributing via link below.

God Bless and Keep Y'all

And you have a blessed Christmas too.

Your words are so true. This shade tree mechanic has learned so much from this forum. We can learn so much more from those who have actually been there and done that than we ever can from a book. Jim

There is no way could have said it better. With three tractors, 2 Fords and an International Harvester I rely a lot on this form and the "OLD" guys who have been wrenching on this old iron for years.
When I have questions I come here. Thanks for all for all the hours you all put in helping the helpless.
Andrew

Thanks for taking the time to share as most all of us feel the same way. I too have been involved in numerous prior hobbies and interests in the past but I can say I have never been associated with such a fine and outstanding group of individuals as I have found with my Farmalls. This is the first interest I've had where the folks really want to help you with the common goal of saving the "Old Iron". The other interests I have been in seemed to have been very competitive in nature between the participants. They seemed to seek out the mine is better then yours, can't really tell you as yours might be better then mine, used to offload their junk and problems too, etc., etc. folks. I have had the opportunity to personnaly meet several folks on the Farmall/IHC forum and have year long contact with several. I just wish I had the opportunity to meet more of the wonderful folks on this forum. Merry Christmas and the very best New Year to all of you, Hal.

Yes indeed you guys are the best .

I have learned a lot from you fine folks and wish to thanks.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Amen! I sure enjoy hearing from all you guys. P.S. Got to make up to Oakley next year. Merry Christmas to all of you.

I too enjoy all the information shared. It's a learning experience about lots of things, and occasionally I'm able to contribute somwthing in return.

I have been on this forum since the '90's. I can't count the times I've been helped by the free info that comes from this forum. I would be embarrassed to see how many hours I have spent reading the things posted on here. Merry Christmas everybody.

Well I am one of the younger OLD guys here. I have been here fro 10 plus years and I always do my best to help if and when I can and also to get help if and when I need it.
That said lets we all remember the reason for the season not just the fact it is a day we get to get stuff. LOL

I couldn't agree more! I have had many trips to the States and fell in love with your country and the country people...Sometimes I feel like I am an outsider on this forum, then next thing I get welcomed back in. You all helped to shorten the time for me when I broke my leg and ended up with a clot last year.....So it is not just tractor help on here....Thanks guys.
This forum really gives me an inside view of life in America and I love it....!

What exactly is a "member"? I"ve been reading and contributing off and on for 10 years. Fixed up three tractors in that time. Not sure if I"m a member. Merry Christmas

Sam, you're only an "outsider" when you don't post enough pictures!
I love to to see them when you post them. :)
I don't think it matter what country you're in, hard working country
people appreciate the work others do, and like to learn from the different
ways that work can be and is accomplished.

Being a little hobby farmer I"ve learned a lot on here also. I know a little about livestock a little about my old tractors and you folks fill in the blanks. Merry Christmas to all.

You are right this is a great site. So much information out there. Its just waiting for a question to be asked. I spend way to much time on here, but where else can you have so much fun and learn also. Have a Merry Christmas guys and gals.

I enjoy helping anybody I can and need some of it myself sometime. It is always nice to chat with anybody that is into old tractors and equipment.
I farm with my dad, and tinker with antique tractors when I get the time.
