ot Replacing headlamp - how to?

Anyone have any experience replacing the light bulb on a 2002 Blazer? Low beam is out and I have the replacement bulb but I cannot figure out how the headlight assembly comes out to replace the bulb.

On my 02 Trailblazer, the entire grill has to come loose before you can remove the head light assembly. It is not a big deal, I just don't do it enough to remember how each time I 'get' to do it!

headlamp asem needs to come out. open the hood and look at the radiator support upper tie bar at the back side of the headlamps. there will be 2 metal tabs bent at 90 degree angles about an inch wide and sheet metal thick. these are the capsule retainers. the lift straight upabout an inch or so to release the headlamp. it has kind of a keyhole cut out that a retaining pin on the headlamp locks in to. some need to have the grille removed also. they are a little stiff to pop up, may need a little prying.

also, check the plug that goes in to the headlight for signs of overheating. if so, replace the pig tail, gm has a retro kit for that. if you have an extra bulb, replace the other side while you are in there, it will prolly burn out soon after replacing the other one.

THANKS - that worked slicker than snail snot! Wife only picked up 1 bulb - 10.00 bucks at Autozone! 123k miles and this is the first time I ever replaced one on it. Should pick up a spare next time I am out!

Glen has it right - got 4 of "em (Blazers) in the driveway. Replaced numerous bulbs. Usually carry a spare in the glovebox. Next time I get stopped for a burned out headlight......

One thing that hasn't been said is those type of bulbs should not be touched by human hand. The skin oils will shorten the life of the bulb. Install the bulb with it in a rag or wear exam gloves.
