A student at the Technical High school were I work just brought a 67 F100 into the auto shop to began what I would call a functional restoration. Its got rust in all the usual spots. 352 with a 2 bbl and four on floor with the cool tall shifter. The old Ford is pretty tired. Hes got a 390 that he has been working on for a year to drop in it.
The boy just glows when he talks about his plans for it and is very excited. He also backs up his words with a solid work ethic. Really great to see this in a young person. Also great to see some old iron coming in. Reminds me alot of myself when I drug home a 66 F100 to do my first resto on many years ago.
Happy Holidays

thats great, the '67 should be a simple straight forward project for him, no computer garbage to deal with , lmc truck parts should have the needed body panels if yours are too far gone

The "67"s have a few things on them that are one year only thus different than the "68-72"s. Something about the doors is different, if it has upper body trim it should be 2 1/4" not 2 and 1/2" They are great trucks and my personal favorite. I currently have 5 of them. A "68 F-100 2wd, a "68 F-250 crewcab, a "69 F-250 crewcab 4x4, a "70 F-100 4x4 with a shortbox flareside (very few built) which is what I drive in bad weather, and a "71 F-100 2wd. I have owned and parted out several others but 67 is the one year I have never owned.

67 was the first year of the squared front style and first year for the New Process 435 4-speed (as far as I know) in F-100, replacing the Borg Warner T-98. That 390 will really wake it up even with a 2 bbl. Post some photos of his progress.

This ones a custom cab with dual tanks. Not sure how rare that is. I forgot to mention upon tear down the engine appears to have been submerged at some point in the past. Glad hes got another engine ready for it.

Have him check out fordification.com, he can look up all the codes on the door tag. Customs were the bottom trim package.

I will let him know about the site. We have computers he can use right in the shop. The FE block and its push rods that go thru the intake manifold sparked some discussion today.

March of '04 I purchased a '67 F100 with the same setup. Owner spent $3295 in engine overhaul, clutch, pitman arm, radiator, plugs, etc. etc. Drove it back from Florida and it still hasn't seen salt. Very solid pickup. I hope your student appreciates the 'simplicity' of the older vehicles. Maybe someone wants a red Ford Ranger for Christmas?

My oldedst and and I worked about a year restoring and rebuilding a '6y4 Ford pickup. He drove it to school for three years and I used it around the farm for 6 more. Great experience for both of us, and a super old truck.

Talking FE block fords, makes me raise a big red flag, concerning the intake manifold gaskets. After replacing 2 new intake gaskets on a 390, because of air leaks, I was finally advised to buy the widest Felpro gasket available, and use Hightack sealer on one side and let it set up, before installing the manifold. NO MORE LEAKING!I just wanted to pass that along to save someone the grief, that I had.

Heres my 1967 Ford Ranger F-100 with 352 V-8 and automatic...Been trying to sell it for a reasonable price and theres no interest..

Neat thing about them is you can change a head in just a few minutes. Can leave the intake on just loosen the bolts on the other side, the head will slide right out. Vic

I had a '67 F 100 camper special(yes,it really was).It had 300,000 when I sold it.'Souped up' 390,that thing would RUN!It had dual straight pipes-it would really TALK!As was said ,'67 was a 'transition'year. Some parts from earlier, some from later, some parts from '67 only would fit.Your son will remember that truck with forever. You and your son will have a great time 'bonding'Good pickup, those Fords are.Maybe thats why I still drive one! This '70 looks almost identical to "Lightning"

now your making me reminisce, dad bought a new '68, short wide with a 360 and 4 speed, had it untill the gas shortage of ;74, traded it on a little truck, i wanted to buy it instead of him trading it as i was licensed and ready to buy my first car, he wouldnt let me buy it as he told me 'it had too much hp for a first car for me' [ this i knew, which is why i wanted it lol] id still like one

I've only ever owned one Ford. As a 20 year old kid, I bought a 1967 Ford Ranchero with the 312 Interceptor engine and paid $1200. for it. I rebuilt the engine, and had to do some serious body work on it - it had been on the East coast where they salt the roads in the Winter - all of the lower body panels were rusted out. After that I had it painted Two-Tone Beige & White. I drove the car for about 6 months and got a $3000. trade-in allowance on it when I purchased a brand new, off the showroom floor 1967 Toyota Landcruiser.

Where do you live and how much do you want for it. it looks to have a pretty good body on it. I would like to have an old ford to drive. I think my email is open.

My Ranger color is called Rangoon Red and was used from 1962-'69.
