That looks like a pretty big one.

People are starting to build those around here too. Everybody calls them "shouses" (your shop/house).

like the idea, could get real creative for living space layout, and a fantastic view to boot, thanks for pic

I live in a place similar to that. Mines a little smaller but same basic idea. ONLY issue I've ever run across is that I constructed mine in 2003 as primary residence. Took out modest morgage at a decent interest rate. Have tried to refi 2 times to get even lower rate and have found the uniqueness of the structure makes it HELL to fine a comparable property for an appraisal and refinance.

Larry,

Nice looking setup!
What is the little extension sticking out at the left end of the building in the top photo?
I can't figure out what it might be for.

Looks kinda small for a tractor shed, and on the wrong end of the building for a carport. Looks to be open underneath, so not much good for a garden shed or mower shed, either.

Myron

Not to be picky but technically it is not a "pole" barn. Steel frame work. I know a guy in TX with a setup like that.

Nice job but we would not be allowed to do that here...fire risks etc, etc, Our building regulations are real strict.

We built one last year here in SE TX. Around here they are called a Barndominium. Steel framework cuts out most of the termite threat, as they are a major problem here.

The only thing I don't like is how the doors and windows were cut in. Without any jamb and header trim I don't know how you will keep water out.

its legal to do that here , but for some strange reason you have to brick the building half way up.dont have any clue what folks think the bricks do,other than for looks, but thats the rules.

In 1985 I wanted to build a polebarn house but my would not have any part of that so we built a
stone and wood siding house, and now guess what, she wants to put metal siding and roof on it.Go figure!

So what would your state not allow.. That is a standard three bay metal building. Probably 40 or 50 ft wide with either 25 or 27 ft bays. Metal construction designed folks that know what they are doing. Actually looks like the roof purlins have been pulled in a little probably to meet snow load requirements. About the only problems we ever get into is in the metal building the electrical has to be in metal conduit. Can,t see what your state would not allow.
