O.T. What my Son made for me.

My son made this shoulder holster(less straps)for me so I could carry my PPK Walther again. Now come tomorrow, were on the road to pick up our new SS EAA BOUNTY HUNTER 22 convertable, which is next in line for a holster. Was wondering if ay one else on here works leather like I described. Looks simple, but lots of time invested in making em. REGARDS LOU/

You should be very proud! When I carry I have the same gun but mine has the stock grips. Nice little gun. I bought mine because of the safety features.

Looks good Lou! That is hard to do, I worked briefly with a guy who made leather horse tack. It was a neat process, as he said you need the right equipment and the right skills.

I have been working leather for many years. I love to make holsters, shoulder and belt, knife sheaths, cig. cases (some people still smoke),hat bands with indian head pennies, buffalo nickles, barber and mercury dimes, arrow heads(real ones) magazime cases(I'm working on a 40 cal for myself presently),cell phone cases , just about anything that will go into a leather case. All are totally hand made. Including the sewing. As soon as I get another camera I'll post pictures. My present camera is acting up. None are sold. Most are for myself or given to friends and family. I take requests from them.

I would like to learn about working leather and give it try. I want to make leather tool bags, there are NONE on the market that suit my needs and desires. Where do you buy tools and materials at?

sparktrician, We buy from Tandy Leather, for us they have a retail store in MN. that ships to us. The prices are very fair on leather and tools. They have retail outlets all over the place, but I'm sure there are other places. He started making them with the help of the computer, lots of sites to get information. Thanks for the reply,
Regards, LOU

Richard from SE AZ, I would like to see some of your work, when you get a camera that works, please post some on here. I'm sure others would like to see the work also,as it takes alot of work, and it does take ones mind off of things.

Ron in NS, I would respond, but that would blow my cover, I am on a secret mission.LOL But remember, Shaken, Not Stirred.lol

JayinNY, Working with leather, you have some room for allowances, but most is fine work, close tolerances.Beats the kydex holsters in my opinion, never really cared for anything that is plastic for guns and other fine tools.thats just my preference, others may like other products. Thanks for the reply,
LOU

Mike (WA),
He uses warn water to form them to the pistol, after he saran wraps the pistol to keep it from getting exposed to water.Uses anything smooth to rub the leather to form it to the pistol, lets it dry, then trim, glues, sews by hand, final sanding on the edges and then stain to desired effect. There are probably other ways, but this works for him. Thanks for the reply,
LOU

davis123,
I like it. I always liked wood grips and these grips fit my hand better and allow my thumb to have a resting place, without slipping, for a better grip.I bought this one because of the fact it was made in Germany,(always believed they are best at fine fitting parts) and on top of that it's Stainless Steel, with no plastic.
I really do like the safety's features, and the weight of it,I can tell it's there, but not so obnoxious with weight. Also have a 1911- 45,but it's fine shooting, but a trifle heavy for these old bones to carry, nothing wrong with em,but for me with carrying it on body really pulls to that side. Sorta like having one tire stuck in the mud,and the other one with traction, ends up going in circles.lol. Not really condusive for me with bi-lateral neuropathy, but love the gun,so it stays.
Thanks for the reply, LOU

WGWKy2, Thanks for the reply,he likes working on em,it eases some brain tension.lol He has a couple more to make,so far. They would probably add some value if we were to sell the guns, but probably never happen. Also a good hedge on inflation(buying guns) IMO.
Regards, LOU
