Corn Thief's Dead

Got these two corn Thief's today in Ohio's second gun.... Im on the left.. We were just starting the second drive and both these bucks were together and ran in front of us the drivers before we had even got all the way spread out. The big one got dropped before it made its way down to me. I was the last driver and got him on the second shot at about 25 yards... We got 15 deer off the farm and 7 were bucks. 3 nice ones and four scrub bucks... Just put a small dent in them though...

Way to go! Sounds like you have more deer than we do here in NC. (And we got a lot!) Read recently how many were taken in NC last year, (can't remember the number), but I don't think they included the ones hit by vehicles which would have made it considerably more.

The week of gun season there were 29k and some change killed in Ohio this year a little over 2500 in our county. That isnt counting Bow second weekend of gun and upcoming muzzleloader But there is a ton... On uncles 400acre operation they estimated 10k in crop damages from deer this year...

If Ohio had our feral hog population along with thier deer,it wouldn't be worthwhile growing corn.

The state should give you farmers extra hunting season to get more deer, afterall you are the guys that deserve it,I dont know much about hunting or rules but I know deer do a lot of damage,Here in nj there are so many deer in small areas, and the deer know where to hide ,a lot of people dont want hunting, but then gripe when their shubery and flowers etc. get mowed down,or their car gets destroyed when they hit one, You drive in nj right now you are sure to see roadkill every major road

What county are you in Jim? I am in Fayette County and you hardly see a deer around here. except at the state park in the no-hunting zone.

Ya did good , a lot better then we did . Only two taken this season . But we did see around ten -twelve . Only got off one true shot at one and one shot off to wake up a buddy that was not paying attention and was day dreaming with one running right at him and he was looking the wrong way . So i took a shot at it out around three hundred yards or so , that got Eugnene's attention and he fired on it three times and missed . When we see them they are way out of range even with the SST ammo . none of our tatics are working anymore . The deer are getting smarter or we are getting dumber .

Larry I"ve seen how bad the deer are in New Jersey.. My best friend from college live in Woodbridge.. He comes to ohio every year to hunt with us.. From the sound of things it"s really a pia to hunt in New Jersey. He said u have to jump through all kinds of hoops..

There has been some bear sitings around but I have never seen any.. Lots of deer and turkeys.. Used to have grouse and a lot of rabbits but the coyotes are getting pretty bad..

Well, that's good. I saw where you got you a couple of the bandits, but when I saw that there were two of them, I knew instictively there had to be a third in a get away car, or as I see in the bottom picture, get away tractor. I see you got him too. Great! You rounded up the whole gang, and that oughta put a dent in the crime spree. Your neighbors owe you. Hope they bring you over some cakes and pies as thanks. Good job.

I don't hunt, I do have a piece of ground in the south west corner of the Rum River State Forrest. Roughly 6 miles north of Milaca and a few miles east.
