got a call from the boss man today, told me i have a new winter project to get running for him, as his oldest kid [ in his late 40's] wants to use it, and drive it in parades, ect, i have built a few old cars and trucks so i told him fine, you buy the parts, pay me and ill work on it, what is it? he says a '57 Chevy, come over to the ranch headquarters and see it, so being that i happen to like tri five Chevys i told him sure, and went over there, well there it was,fresh out of an old barn, a sure enough 1957 Chevy.....2 ton truck! lol a 4400 to be exact, all there sort of, the rats got the seat, last ran in 1976 according to the licence plate, swears he bought it new and hauled cattle in it for many years, pretty straight body,, bed sides gone, but the flatbed, well im not going to stand on it, but now i got to replace all the wood too...

Sounds like a heck of a project. It's not often that anyone takes the time to repair the older heavy duty trucks. Make sure to post some pics as your working on it and when your done. I, for one, would love to see the progress and finished product.

I like the old 4400. I would like to get one someday, restore it, with a cream yellow cab and 4" wide open stakes on the bed. If you are a restoration guy, how is doing a 2 ton a funny thing?

the funny part is that he didnt mention that it was a truck, when we talked i thought we were talking about a '57 chevy car, i like these old trucks myself, there are a few even older ones [ dump trucks]that are around the ranch way to far gone to fix back up 1 is even crushed by a large tree

Can't beat those old chevy trucks. Sounds like a good project, and you are even gitting paid to have fun. I have the 54 6400 series my dad bought new. I still use it to haul my crawler, and disc. Stan

I got a 55 Chev 6500 dump that I haul a little dirt in once in awhile. It has a V8 with Bud wheels and a 2 speed axle.
