What do you do with your tractor in the winter?

Christmas Tractor

Four stay in the barn, maybe started once or twice during the winter. Three get run on a regular basis hauling or splitting wood. All get a bath in the spring, then ready to show or go.

Thats a great picture, What tractor is it?.
our local Case IH dealers Millers used to do a big 4wd or a sprayer with the booms out every year on the lot, it also had flashing lights on the wheels so it looked like it was moving, and on the sprayer booms they had icicle lights on the booms to look like it was spraying .
They just changed to Rocky Mountain Equipment. I guess those guys are all about profit and can't afford the electric to run the lights. was there today and miss seeing them .
Regards Robert

All but one get parked for the winter. The others that have been run any amount get run through the shop for whatever maint. is due. Usually one or two get some fairly major work, or a significant part of a restoration.

I throw a tarp over the important parts, and make sure a can is over the stack. I keep antifreeze up to date even though it seldom freezes here in Southern Calif. Stan

Change the oil before putting it in the shed, run fogging oil thru it before shutting it down. Then I block it up so the tires are off the floor. I adjust the temperature in the shed so that it stays between 40 and 60F over the winter. I also remove the distributor cap and make sure the points are open. I check the coolant to ensure it can withstand at least -40F, even though my climate controlled shed ensures it never drops below 40.

Aw, who am I kidding. If I remember in the fall, I move it to a spot where the water doesn't get more than a couple inches deep, tip up the seat and leave it until the ground firms up in the spring...

Mine has to keep on working ..when ground conditions allow, as our government only allows us to tidy the hedgerows from September to end of February. I do custom work for other farmers so most of my work is in winter.

Use 'em for the same things I use 'em for all summer, except the JD gets snow plowing/blowing duty.

We don't decorate. All but 2 of our grandkids are in their 20's, what's the point?

This year trees were "scarce" on the farm and couldn't afford to buy a Christmas tree.

At least it was green at one time.

Usually do a little seed bed preparation for Spring planting.

put them in the barn!!!used to do mostly feeding/fence building etc in winter. since ive sold the cows ,they are enjoying being a home for the mice, and im enjoying the great indoors!

I always wanted to decorate my Farmall C out front for Christmas. But I couldn't stand to leave it sit out in the Mi. winter weather for a month. I don't like to leave a tractor sit out over night in the winter yet alone for the holiday season. Thats just me though, to each his own.
I do use my tractors in the winter though. One on the wood splitter. One on the feed grinder. The loader tractor runs the snow blower and anything else I may need to use a tractor for. Although the loader tractor is the one with a cab, heater, and radio.

Doesn't really feel like winter here as usually there is about 2 feet of snow on the ground, but its cold and the grass isn't growing so we are feeding hay just the same.

Throw on the carhartts and start plowing snow. Last year didnt need to plow only had one snowfall with maybe 5 inches.
But i did plow the neighbors place, he's 84 with arthritis and the cold is a little hard for him.

Bought a Case 580SE with a cab and heat, gonna figure out a blade for this winter.

The big guy (magnum 7130) gets parked in the shed all winter. 2090 is up for grain vac duty and occasional pushing snow with blade. The Cockshutt40 has the snowblower duty and the Massey Super 90 keeps the cattle fed all winter handling round hay bales.

This pic was early in the winter, first snowfall and I didn't even have the winter front on the tractor yet but the cattle needed hay.
