O.T. Air Bag light flashing

My 98 Ford Ranger has the Air Bag light flashing on the instrument panel. If I turn the passenger air bag off it goes out. Could it be the relay causing this?

Not sure on the 98, but my 04 had a weight sensor in the passenger seat.
If it thought the seat was empty, the air bag was turned on and the light was off.
If it thought an adult was in the seat, the air bag was turned on and the light was off.
If it thought their was a child in that seat, i.e. something more than
empty but less than 40 lbs, it would turn the air bag off for you and
flash the light at you to tell you that you didn't turn it off.
My sensor was a little touchy/dusty so when I went down a dirt road it
would sometimes start blinking at me for no reason.
It too went off if I shut the airbag off manually.

My wifes 02 Ranger did the same thing, If it has the key switch below the dash to turn the air bag off(for the passengers side air bag) it the light buld in the indcatior light beside it thats burnt out and will cause the dash lite to flash. Bandit

I've had trouble with the air bag light coming on a 2006 Chevorlet at least 3 times. They tell me when the light is on means air bag won't work. So it's a safety item. I had to take it to a General Motors garage each time because most garages can't check air bag sensors. It wasn't cheap. This truck only has 49000 miles, but I bought it used and they won't cover it under warranty. I would think a safety item should be covered for ever.

What banditfarmer posted is correct, the bulb
is burnt out on the module for the Pass air
bag.. It"s very Possible , go buy a #37 bulb
& solder it in place of the burnt out one. Much
cheaper than the key operated module/switch
