Ol Roy called and checked in on Graydon, so I thought I should post a report. He has had a rough patch since his last post. I know some of you are concerned that he might be experiencing some difficulties with the home. That is not the case. It makes him proud to know that he made a positive difference there.

His stomach has not been a happy camper since his gall bladder surgery. The doc"s are actually taking him off of a lot of his medications in an attempt to get his gut to working the way it should. It does not help that he is on a pain patch for his shoulders. The narcotics really cause problems with the digestive system. He is also starting to experience some sundowners which really concerns him. Again, the pain patch is working against him. He also feels that his fingers don"t not always cooperate so he isn"t posting, emailing or text as much. If things don"t get turned around pretty soon, we will run him in to the hospital.

We (his family) are in and out of the nursing home two or three times a week. We keep a pretty close eye on him and mom (she is doing well). The drought and high feed costs are forcing me to make some tough decisions on the farm. While he agrees with the changes, it is still pretty darn depressing. We are the driest we have ever been since 1921. Our rainfall since May 1 is 35% of normal. I would replace my windshield wipers, but I am worried they will dry rot before I need them again.

All of you who are his friends on the forum really keep him going. I will try to do a better job of keeping everyone posted.

Thanks for all of your care and concern!

I was afraid he'd 'passed on',Glad he's still here.Tell him we all value his many contributions to the YT family.Tell him we we miss him and love him.He will be in our prayers. Thanks for the update.Steve

Thank-you for the update!! Git has always been one of the best reads on here going way back. I just buried my dad after a long hard 14 mo. IN home-Hospice. A great man and farmer who always did the right thing and took the high road. we gave it our all in his care as he did for us in his life.

Thanks for the update, enjoy his banter around here, he's one of the good guys.

Sorry to hear fsarming in your srea is tough sledding, we are in such a strange period of weather, politics, ecconomics, it's just tough.

You are a good man for taking care of your father that way! I had Graydon here with me for six years, but, I had to realize that I wasn't completely up to the task. It is hard to admit that you can't be every where and do everything like you should be doing. Thankfully all of us kids get along real well and we all are willing to help one another. I was worried that it would kill him when he went to the home, but he has done well in adjusting. I've gone from four of us on the farm (including Dad) to just myself. So I have had a bit of adjusting to do myself. One of the dogs still sleeps by his bedroom door.

Thanks for the update.

Tell Graydon and Marge Hi and Merry Christmas from here in central Illinois!

Jim

I'm praying the doctors get it all worked out.
His posts on the forum are always full of knowledge and on target.
It doesn't surprise me that he adjusted well to his new arrangements,
I'm sure he's done much adjusting over the years. One tough dude!
I wish them both a Merry Christmas and all the best.

PS, Old Roy, thanks for making that call.

Tell him Merry Christmas for all of us, and get back on here soon. His buds want to pick on him.....

I had trouble after my gallbladder surgery 6 years ago. I had trouble with hands felling like they numb and would drop thing or crush paper and plactic cups. Doctors did blood work and found out I had a Vitamin B-12 deficiency. Taking shots for it and will take them for the rest of my life. Its something you could ask doctors about I had to go through several doctors before they found out what it was. Hope he gets better soon.

Hope he gets feeling better soon. Is there any kind of voice recognition software that would allow him to speak and the computer translates it to typing, so he could still post? Even if he has typing errors, I believe everyone knows what he is saying.

I think of him and your mom often, as my Dad is in tough shape too. My mom passed last year... but I think they had the kind of love for each other that your dad and mom seem to have.

Wish him and your mom well and tell them Merry Christmas.
