Tracctor driving. Kinda a long story.

A friend, who grew up in Tuscon AZ but got to spend summers on his grand parents farm in MN, did farm labor before he joined the Marines in 1970, drove his first farm tractor in 30 years yesterday. He got out of service in 74 and tried to get permission to farm from his grand mother but failed. He got married and moved back to AZ, raise 3 kids and tried to get to MN every year. A few years ago he fell off a roof and impaled himself on a wheel barrow handle. While he was recovering his wife left him, he was declaired unable to work and went on SS disability. He, his brother and aunt now own the farm so he started wintering in AZ and summering in MN. Well this year he has no place to stay in AZ so is going to winter here. I promised to keep his drive clear but told him that some grass and brush next to the drive needed to be mowed. All he has is a rider. I told him he could use my M and brush cutter. So yesterday he came over, we hooked up the cutter and he drove it back to his place. He had a ball! I don't think I've seen him this happy sence his granson was born 2 1/2 years ago.

I love driving my tractors. I always feel better when I'm in the seat, and all I can hear is the clatter, smell the exhaust, and feel the wind in my face.

And THAT my friend, is why we like helping others.............because it makes US feel good too......as attested by your writing about it! Neat story!

Great Story! Sounds like he is going to brave one of our nasty winters! Hopefully it isn't... 8)
