Need to build one, any good ideas or pictures?? Plan on everything from small items to fenders.

Keep in mind that Vision is paramount. Provide provision for protecting both sides of your plexiglass, and plenty of light. You want to minimize the number of times that you need to stop to open up and check.

just some small points to consider.

Use VERY bright lights - mine has a couple of small flouresent bulbs and once the window gets just a little dirty I can't see anything - I have to turn the shop lights off to see inside the cabinet. In fact, I have to do most sandblasting totally blind - strictly by feel.

Related to that - you need really good ventilation. Obviously if the pressure doesn't get out of the cabinet it'll explode from the air pressure - but if you use a vacuum system to remove dust - which I'd highly recommend - the cabinet has the opposite problem - it has to breathe inwards - probably much more than you'd expect. If it doesn't, the gloves inflate and are hard to use- and will pop often.

Google: TP Tools. They have all of the information that you'll ever need for sand blast
cabinets and accessories. AND, lots of technical
information. Their catalog is free, order it at
the website.

I use my shop vac to keep the blast cabinet air clear for visibility; I had to drill several 1/2" holes in the adapter to get just the right amount of suction inside the cabinet.

I should have mentioned mine's from harbor freight - and that's why I know about the need for good lighting and ventilation!

I'd say it's worth what we paid for it - but I'd also say I learned from it.

You definitely need a way to reduce teh suction from a vacuum - and you definitely need a vacuum or your going to completely lose visibility quickly (even WITH peel off window protectors).

Even aside from visibility - without a vacuum - dust comes out the sides of the door - like the rubber gasket wasn't even there.

I built one out of an old fuel oil tank. Used it off and on for about a year then had to get rid of it. didn't work that well.
