Local TSC had somewhat small rectangular bales of good looking grass hay for $8.50 per bale yesterday.Wish I could get the kind of money out of the field in the summer.

They look like they are sliced out of large square bales. Also are so dry they look like you would get powder and stems when opened.

Talk to the manager. It's local hay. Ours was advertising for reliable supplies of good quality grass hay small squares. The price is robbery, yes, but townies don't know that.

Heck, here you could buy all they have and make money on them... All the $8 bales were sold fresh off the fields, getting up around $12 now, at least in less than truckload quantities...

That's where the price SHOULD be. When you figure out what someone should get to make the hay, store it, absorb some loss on storage... then load it out and ship it to a retailer... then add some retail margin and absorb some more loss on handling... 8 bucks is about right for a good solid bale.
