How much Horse power do I need

I have been given a 10ft. Disc and a John Deere model B grain drill. I have a Farmall 300 but it is certainly not enough tractor. My farm has some steep hills as well. Looking for so good advise. Thanks in advance!!

Is the disc a tandem or an offset. Either way I would think the 300 would be a plenty of a tractor for a little 10 footer.

We have a JD b drill with a cultipacker on it that we use a 460 to pull but have also used an M with no problems. Our land is hilly also.

You've plenty of horsepower. I have pulled a heavy Dunham tandem disk 10' with a JD A (38hp) same as your 300. Also use the same A to pull a IH 5100 18 hole grain drill every year.

It is a tandem. Sounds like I"m in good shape with the 300. I guess I am just nervous as well as a novice! Thank you all for the advise!!!

Be sure that you have a good tune-up on the motor and that you have plenty of weight on the tractor. Keep the engine wound up because your rated horsepower is at rated RPM's. At a lower speed you have less horsepower. Set your rear wheels as wide as practical.

We pulled a 10 foot with the IHC 300, worked will in fall, was a load in soft ground in spring but it worked. 4th gear high or low was possible, sometimes 3rd.

Drill is easy load for your tractor.

You have more than enough horses for the loads. Put duals on the tractor? Or, if it gets too wide doing that, extra wide rear tires with good tread, and some weight on them. I don't see a problem with 10 foot wide equipment. Hook up and enjoy....make it bark!

Depends on the ground. I have a 10 foot JD tandem disc. My 800 Ford, 40ish HP, will just barely pull it in 2nd. Much better with the Case 811B or DB 990 at 55ish HP. If you have heavy land your little 300 may not be able to budge it.

A good set of 15.5x38"s and loaded tires and half decent set of duals of the same size will make all the differance in the world when pulling a disc. and as for the drill you will not need to dual up . I say 15.5"s because they are a low profile tire and are the same hight as a 13.6 but wider . Load them with Cal. and it will help ya on them humps and bumps .
