OT trailer serial number tag

I am looking at buying a used deck over trailer. It still has the serial tag on it. The serial number and the weight and everything that was etched into it is readable. Everything that was "printed or written" is badly faded. The manufactor is one of the items that is faded. Does anyone know of a way to "bring it out" to make it more readable.

The current owner has agreed to a written "Bill of Sale" with signatures.

To make this tractor related I will use this trailer to haul my JD on.

trailers have titles, even home made units have to have a title issued,in order to be registered and licensed, the title will have either the manufactures, name or homebuilt, shop built, ect if the trailer was made by a person, and not a company, if the owner cant produce a title and the manufactures name is rubbed off, id be real leery of buying that unit, it just might be that that trailer has some 'ownership issues'

Some states don't require titles on certain trailers. In ohio if it's under 4000 pounds all you need is a weight slip. You can register any trailer as homemade with a weight slip.

Depends on what state you in. In Texas, trailers are supposed to have a title ( though you can register It as a farm trailer for less than ten bucks)

Trailer that have a VIN will most likely have a confidential VIN placed in a secret location. Contact your local police agency and they can fill out a form that you can get a title with. (and they won't show you where the CVIN is)

Check with your Secretary of State or DMV, whatever it is called in your state.
Trailers in Michigan do not have titles. (except mobile homes)
In some states, they don't even need license plates.
As far as the manufacturer, try looking for another stamp or plate or decal?
Every time I've tried to wash a plate I only made it worse.

I bought a trailer and it came without a title. I applied for a title and it took 6 six months to get it from the WI DOT. I had a VIN and they said that it had been register before, but my title now says that it is a homemade trailer.
