Just looking for a rough idea - JD B pic

Don't even know if this is for sale or not. Found it in our holiday wanderings this last week.

Just looking for a rough idea on value of a rusty old JD B like this (not sure of year... and do not like the cut-off rears). But would still like to get your ideas as to approximate value as we have not watched any JD prices for some time.

Thanks if you can help.

Sweet I use to own a couple of JD Bs 20 some years ago. That looks like a 1938 or 1939 long frame. Looks like brakes and the clutch are missing. 10 to 1 the engine is stuck. It is only worth your effort to haul it off. Not worth a plug nickel to me. Might want to post that on the Deere site.

well in reality i would not pay more than about 500.00 for a machine in that shape. i also believe that those j.d.'s are way over valued. they built piles of them and lots around. but knowing the owner he would want 2-3 times that. also those high priced ones never sell anyhow.

Well , if ya put new tires on ($1000) and have to do clutch and something different for rear wheels and couple hun for hood yur getting close to $2000 and we don,t know if it even runs or stuck ! I believe you can buy one that probably needs nothing but paint and/or cosmetics for $2500 without a problem. I've got a "37 "A" that just needs cosmetics for sale right now for $2400. So you have to get it pretty much for free.

Thanks for the input guys! We are just tossing around the idea that if we ever run across a rusty B, we MIGHT be interested.

Me, I am not so sure... as husband says if we ever do this - then we have to sell our current '36 B. Not sure I can agree to that as she is one we have taken through parades and plowing shows - so not sure I can agree to part with her because of sentimental reasons.

About scrap price, then part it out. At least that way whatever parts are good will get used. I paid $1400 for one, not stuck, not running, complete with decent rubber and that was too much to sell and get my money back after I restored it. That said, if you love wrenching on them and want the satisfaction of saving it, go ahead. Or if you just want a restored tractor, go buy one that's already done.

Sweet hang onto that 36B. Fairly rare. Wish I hung onto the 38B I had. From my needs the Farmall Hs were more practical at the time.

That's driffrent, Most times it's shmbo that say you have to get rid of this one fore you can get that one. lol. Maybee you can do like us men and hid the 36 B beehind the shed or at a friend's place fer a while. Just saying, Not like I have ever done that.

The last unstyled B was a 1938 model, the 1939 models started the styled linup and had a 1/4" bigger diameter piston. The long frame came out in 1937. First B was a 1935 and 1935 to 1937 were short frame tractors, the long frame could use the same cultivators for an A.

This one is a true yard art queen. Spend the extra and get one running - voice of experience.
