What do do about neighbor's cow

So neighbor has a cow that has been laying on it's side for the last 3 days, I don't think it has moved. Normally I would just mind my own business, but it looks like all the grass next to it has been eaten and no water right next to the cow. Should I call someone about this? About two years ago same neighbor had a cow that was dead in the pasture for at least a day. We went up to their house to let them know, they didn't seem to happy with us and didn't go and get the cow for another 5 hours or so with the skid steer latter that day. That's the main reason I don't just go up to their house but don't like to see anything suffer, would rather they just put it out of it's missory. What do you think?

If it was my cow I'd want to know. Never can tell about some
people but at least you did what you could in the best interest
of the cow if you let him know. Three days without water it'll
be dead soon anyway.

Leave the law out of it.Might make it real hard on some poor bass-turd without the money to fight it.If you really hate to see it suffer,go pop it in the brain yourself and get it over with.

If your so worried just go to the people themselves, don't call and get a government agency involved. That's a good way to start a neighborly war.

I agree with the other guys call the sheriff use a
friends cell phone...write down what you are going
to say give brief info and then hang up..

just tell the neibor please do somethn about the cow no need for law animals die all the time in the wild its nature

I would tell the neighbor, the old cow don't need to suffer to save the neighbor hurt feelings, some people do not keep very close tabs on their livestock and fail to notice things.

If it's still laying there in the morning I'll go talk to him. Don't want to bother him, and if was just one day I agree with all of those saying leave it be, but it's been since Friday in the same spot.

Maybe the fellow is away from home. I had a cow down once for about a week, I couldn't get her up and going, she was down in the back. Finally after 2 streroid shots she was so ------ at me she came at me and she was a new girl when she got up finally. I had a lot of folks stopping in concerned and it didn't bother me any. If the animal rights folks had come out they'd probably locked me up. I should add I fed and watered her daily.

Just had a deal like that here in TN. Horse was down. Driver passed by and called the cops. Horse was starving to death. Called vet and they put him down for good. Arrested owner for not feeding horse.

Hey Jack as s cdl... that was my opinion so buzz off.. it sounds like its an on going problem with this guy..the guy should grow a pair and call the vet to either treat it or put it down..when you call law enforcement they will ask your name and address...sounds like this gentleman may be concerned about retalliation

I would definitely advise your neighbor of your
concern right away!
If he does nothing, then I would call the
authorities.
I would not be worried whether or not he is "happy".
The burden would be on him.
I would not be happy watching the animal suffer
either.I would rather the cow be "happy"!

i would call the cops. my neighbor had one fall in a pond beacuse he would not bust the ice for them was out there for a week befor called. but he dose not like my family and dint want to make anyone mad like you. but about a month about my neighbor across the road had a cow stuck in the mud knowing he was at work i told his wife and i pulled it out. did not hear a thanks. but the worst part is out of all of his 40 cows you can count all of the ribs and the have no grass and he dose not have much hay..... i just hope he gets hay but he has never taken good care of them. just sad i think.

If the cow's where the guy can see it,yes, mind your own da__ed business. If it's down a side road, over a hill where he might not know, yes, let him know.

FYI,if a cow lays dead for 5 hours after you tell him, take the first advise I gave you. We don't always sit on our azzes waiting for some nosey SOB to knock on the door and tell us what to do. We'll get to it when we get time.

if you're the new neighbor that bought a 2 acre lot off the local bto and moved the modular in along with 2 big dogs and some horses, then myob.

Whatever you do, DO NOT go over and shoot it yourself or call a vet to come treat it as was mentioned. Do that and I guarantee you'll wind up with the dirty end of the stick. We're it me, and I've had neighbors that were miserable sob's, I'd let them know in as nice a manner as I could and leave it at that. If they start the retaliation crap, then call the law and load up in case they're bonkers.
