Motor stops on a Generaac after short run.. Low oil light comes on, oil level good. Could this be a bad switch? Any way to check if switch is bad. thanks for any help you can give.

Onan had such a bad problem with low oil switches. That they got rid of them.Recommended disconnecting them on the ones that had them. I believe Generac is having the same problem.

Can you install a pressure gauge? If the gauge shows good pressure, your low pressure oil switch is probably defective. Hal

Bad low oil sensor! Can check by disconnecting the sensor - if it's bad the generator will now run fine.

To fix either replace the sensor or leave it disconnected. If you choose the 2nd option be sure to check/refill the crankcase every time you refill the gas tank!

Simple, change out of the switch for a generic low oil pressure idiot light switch.
Why anybody would advocate removing a low cost, simple and effect engine protection system is beyond me.

Change the oil and use straight 30 wt. In many years of RV work I don't remember ever having a bad oil switch but,,,quite often have oil that is diluted with gas and yes, the oil pressure drops hot.

Tried to save a few bucks and bought a new Generac 10K. Within a couple of months I had trouble starting it after it got warm. Returned it several times to the dealer under warranty and each time they again got it working OK for a short period. Finally had enough, and after the last "fix it" trip, immediately sold it for about a third of the original price before it broke again. It was either that or blow my fuse. Bought a Honda that was approximately 3.5 times more expensive, but has always worked. No Generacs on this place again.

Because the low oil level switch was shutting down engines for no reason. You could change one out and it would happen again. We got tired of changing them and explaining to the customer. Why he was on his third switch in a year.

Welcome to Generac. I never had issues with the oil switch, but if that thing was running it was spewing oil. Best thing I ever did was get rid of that clunker.
