Prices off the wall!

I dont do much shopping, I go sometimes to grocery store,
but never to malls ect, only hardware stores, equipment
dealers ect. Haven't been to tractor supply in a year or so,
went today to get some sunflower seed for the birds, a block
of salt, salt lick, and some trace mineral salt for the horses. I
couldn't believe the prices on some of the things in the store,
whole corn was $11.99 for fifty pounds. A wire guard for a
stock tank deicer was $10.00, and carhartt overalls for my 14 month old daughter were $30.00 bucks, I didn't buy any of these things. Glad I don't have to buy much,
but when something needs to be replaced you really get
plowed. Oh well, I wanted to try to start my farmall h today,
haven't started it since last fall, but had to put some tin on a
shed roof, with china made nails, gonna finish that tomorrow
hopefully, maybe play around with H??? And put metal on
the hen house roof! Had some panels left over from my barn
last fall, there's enough to left to do hen house, may as well
use it! Lol

Must be _some_ overalls!

I always refer to TSC as "The Clothing Store" since ours mainly caters to selling clothes and chinese tools. As an afterthought there is an aisle way at the back with some ag related stuff.

I believe that the dollar is devaluing due to the "quantitive easing" by the Fed,IE. they print more money. I also believe we have some inflation on top of that. Companies are doing less business with the same or higher overhead so they are raising prices to stay alive as long as they can.

We are in a downward spiral that our President thinks can be solved by throwing more money at it.

The media or the government isn't talking about any of this.

The nearest one to me is a two + hour drive, near Moscow-Madison. We refer to them as "Tough Shitt Charlie" stores.
They cater to the "horsie" crowd.

i have to laugh when people say "my taxes didn't go up, I'm in too low a bracket". Myabe not up directly but all the high prices you saw or a lot of em, are from higher taxes or gov't fees to someone along the growing or mfg chain. Not too long ago, we had a cigarette tax increase in my state. A coworker was bragging cuz he only makes $10/hr his tax bracket was not increased. I told him, "you smoke don't you?..."yes"... "Well then your taxes went up too!" EVERYTHING is higher! and smaller too. Gasoline, heating fuels, foods all regulated and overtaxed with fees etc that unaware folks don't seem to notice.

Get used to it prices ain't going up the value of the US (Federal Reserve Note really)Dollar is dropping.Federal Reserve will be printing and "loaning" to the US Gov't thru large banks over a Trillion a year for the forseeable future with absolutely nothing to back it up which equals higher prices. This has been tried many times in places like Germany,Argentina,Brazil and other and it always ends up the same Hyper inflation and the paper money becomes worthless.

You are absolutely correct. People have their head in the sand if they don't realize that we are going the way of printing fiat money that sooner, rather than later bankrupts a country. One needs to read a little history and study, rather than watching the talking heads. What happened in Germany during the Weimar regime is well documented, and is what is happening in the US right now. The "quantitative easing" will continue and accelerate. The taxing out of existence of the middle class will continue and accelerate also. Recently my business received two notifications that my Federal and state income tax withholding rates are going up the first of the year. By the way, they are also moving up the date that I have to send in the money. It's too bad that people don't realize that businesses don't pay any taxes. It is part of the cost of doing business, and in the end is always paid by the customer.

Boy that says it all right there.

Few years back they had a school levee here. Almost of the poorer people I knew that were renting bragged that they voted yes because they didn't have to pay for it were complaining a month later when their rent went up. The landloards didn't wait till the tax hike kicked in, they raised the rent right away.

Well put Ted. The talking heads people do need to be listening to are on Glenn Becks TV show. He's about the only one out there that I think see's the big picture.
