My 6.5 diesel quit me today and I'm having touble figuring out the problem. I was idling along in the pasture and it reved slightly and died. The lift pump was really hot. So I swithed it out with a lift pump that I think is good not 100% but it still won't start the glow plug lite won't come on at all. Could the glow plug contoler have went south or do I have something else going on. Anybody got any ideas where else to look. Thanks

More info needed. It is an early (or miltary) mechanically injected 6.5, or a later electronically-controlled 6.5?

Mine (98 GM) died something like that a couple of years back...electric transfer pump had failed and blew the fuse, glow plug light would not light. Did you check the fuses and see if the pump does run?

I did a quick look at the panel trying to find one labeled glow plug or lift pump but couldn't find one and it was gettin late. So we towed it home and I will look again in the morning. Thanks for the help.

I had that happen, I replaced my PMD with a relocated kit and a new one and haven't had issues anymore. If your cruise control wouldn't work part of the time and it coughs and works it is the issue.
I relocated mine to the bumper to keep it cool and haven't had any problems in 2 years.

I had one the PMD went bad on. After it cooled off it would start. I relocated my PMD also and installed a new one. Problem solved. At that time 5 years ago they were expensive. Now you can get remanufactured ones for under $ 100 on ebay. I just sold my spare for $ 70.00.

Thanks guys. We relocted the PMD on the firewall 2 years ago and haven't had any problems since. I'll do some more looking today.
