Scraping a tractor

My question to you all is. How do I scrap a tractor? I haven't had any luck with for sale ads and now I need it gone.
I have read about scrap prices and people selling scrap on this forum just need to know how to go about it. Do I contact a auto salvage company or a scrap recycling place or somewhere else. What kind of money should I look for?
Thanks for the help..
Before you ask.. it's a 49 Case DC 3... in northern Illinois..I need it gone. ASAP

It should be around #5000 lbs check what scrap in your area is bringing sometimes you could make more parting it if tires sheet metal/carb etc....

set it in the frt yard and hang flower pots on it..................

go over to the case forum on this site, n tell em you got a dc3 for sale. someone will make u an offer. dont scrap a tractor unless its broken to the point of no repair.

Being you say it is a DC-3 does it have Eagle hitch; foot clutch; live pto and hydraulics; and have the gated transminnion that the 400 has? Please post pictures and actual location. Northeren Il. takes in a lot of area. Armand

a 49 doesn't have live pto/hydraulics, eagle hitch and they never had a 400 style trans. If it were close I would give you salvage price for a parts tractor, it will weigh around 4800-5000 depending if it has a set of wheel weights on it

Harry: I could have spoken too soon. I did not notice that was a '49. The only year that the DC's had the upgrades was 1953. Check with the Case board for shore as to what upgrades. I am shore of foot clutch; Eagle Hitch and I think 8-speed trans. Not shore about live PTO and hydraulics. Armand

Live PTO and Hydraulics came in 52 along with the eagle hitch. There was never a 8 speed - at least on a production tractor.

My scrap yard requires no oil, fuel, antifreeze, or tires. Remove the radiator as it will bring more than price of metal.

Load it up and take it to them. I just hauled a load of scrap copiers and got $220/to here in Houston.

Try to find the main yard. Easy to do in Houston may not be practical in a rural area.

Haul it to a scrap yard, it's about 5300 lbs. Price is down on scrap, at 6 bucks a hundred. Total is about 320 bucks at the yard.

I would guess you would maybe get $500 for it at a scrap yard with the tires removed. You would have to haul it to the yard and do some work to get it ready. If you advertise it for $500 you should be able to sell it pretty fast and the buyer will have to do the hauling. I am in NY which is too far away, but I would pay $500 for any complete or mostly complete tractor and I am sure there are folks in your area who part out tractors.

(quoted from post at 23:26:59 11/16/12) Nobody tell him how to!, unless its a salvage yard for parts,
I second the suggestion to take it to a salvage yard... When mine dies (to the point where I don't feel like resurrecting it) that's what I'm going to do.

You've probably going to get around 10 cents a lb these days as scrap is down some so that DC will get 400 to 500 dollars have you advertised it at that price? Also I'd use the money for a divorce lawyer once I got rid of the tractor.

"D" series never had a 8sp tranny near the end of production they did have ft clutch, Eagle Hitch, live pto and hyd as well as torsion seat and optinal distributor Ign cnt
