Hope me daughter learned something

This is about the horse my daughter rescued from gowing to the packer in Canada. After around 750.00 for the horse 300.00 for the shipper. She buys it from a picture on the net. The horse is very wild, and must have been mistreated. Finally got a halter on it, and that's about it. Plus the horse has a bad leg. It will probably settle down, but the leg is a problem. She already has two nice horses, don't know why she needed another. I tried to tell her. I've made some costly mistakes in my lifetime, but at least they didn't eat. Stan

But this mistake CAN be eaten. Check out Scandinavian horse meat and fruit soup recipes, French horse meat steak preparation, Mongolian grilled horse recipes. Or just use a venison marinade overnight and roast procedure. Mention this when you feel like teasing her. Do I need to put in TEASING ALERT! ?? RN

Ya,my son had horse meat when he was in Sweden a few weeks ago. Said it was good, went back for seconds.
My son in law has eaten it in Japan too.

When you were describing the situation a few days ago I had assumed that $750.00 was delivered price. That is really bad. Maybe you could get her to do a little online research about "rescue horses" so maybe she will learn to put a little effort into checking something out in the future.

Best steak I ever have eaten!, Got it in both France and Spain.... just leave the bad leg or at least eat around it!

She is a firefighter paramedic for the city of San Diego. Married with three kids. The only thing I provide is the space for the horses.Stan

The shipping price came after the deal was made. She had the chance to drive 10 hours each way. So I think 300 was worth it for my piece of mind. I didn't like the idea of her driveing that far by her self. I helped her out some on the shipping money though. Stan

Samn40, I think I got hold of some horse meat a few years ago that had been, shall we say, "mis-labeled". A butcher shop opened up in town, you know, one of those where you could get these fantastic "package deals". Well, we ordered something like half a cow, and put it in the freezer. But when we cooked it, some of it did not look like beef. It had a totally different texture. It was good meat, but I would almost bet that it was horse meat. As I said, it had a good flavor, and I would not hesitate to eat it again.

I have one daughter.
We lost her Mom when she was four.
I spoiled her quite a bit.
If it makes your daughter happy,
go with it.
Don't get me wrong, I believe in discipline and advice,
but if this is something she really wanted to do,
let her. A leg can be fixed.
And she'll be proud she saved a life.
Just a thought, wrong in many ways, lol.

I'm not sure what you were expecting from a "rescue horse." If they're healthy and not being abused, they have no need to be "rescued."

There's a difference between letting your daughter be happy and letting her be played for a fool, though.

She needs to get real and understand that you can't save them all.

I'd say you hit the nail on the head M. If it was in perfect health, and sweet enough to sit down and watch tv with the kids..it would be offered cheap or free if the owner can no longer afford the feed and keep.
But.... when it has the title? handle??? adjective?? 'rescue'.... that is a horse of a different nature...
