How to cut a tire.....

Looking for advice.....I have a 23.1X26 combine tire I want to make a feedlot scraper out of.....my goal was to cut both beads out, split the tire across the tread, and bolt to a frame I will fabricate.....

Any suggestions on what to use to cut the tire?

Sawzall - reciprocating saw. The hard part about cutting tires is that they will vibrate with the saw blade, A wood block inside the tire helps but you have to keep moving it.

I agree with the Sawsall and a wood block. I never cut one that big but have done alot of smaller tires. Should be no different though.

Sawzall. Grind a knife edge on a worn out metal cutting blade. Holding the cut open behind the saw helps immensely.

I made one from a pay loader tire. Cut it with a Sawz- all and 14 TPI blades. Buy good blades like Lenox

I think you are going to be very disappointed in the stiffness of that combine tire. Even some of these big industrial tires have to have chains added inside them to keep them from spreading out under load, plus if you use it on a loader it will fold under with just slight down pressure. Wet poop is heavy and a soft carcass tire aint gonna do the job.
