O.T. Freezer burned pork chops

My son gave me a 10# box of irregular pork chops that were pretty badly freezer burned. My wife told me to feed them to the pets. I said that there wasn't anything dangerous about them and could be fixed good enough to eat. I fried a panful of them after soaking them to defrost and rehydrate them. When they were cooked, I tried one and it seemed ok. Then I took the rest of them and baked them at 350 degrees until cooked. I took about a pound and put in some barbeque sauce and cooked it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. That also tasted fine.
Any comments or arguments that I can use with the wife?

Nothing wrong with them except maybe for the flavor. Like you say, doctor them up a bit and they will be fine.

Roy........freezer burn is the result of DEHYDRATION of the meat cells. This is a natural process of refrigeration and that is what/why there is FROST inside the freezer compartment, unless yours is a "frost-free" in which case the frost has been melted and leaked out a drain under yer freezer for the dust bunnys to lap-up. Just cook/fry as normal and SAUCE it. Grind up the meat and make sausage or meatloaf. It just looks "bad" but it is not unless you gotts some green fuzzys wondering around. I definitely would NOT feed it to the dogs unless SHMBO insists. ........Dell

SHMBO ?????? WTF ?????? Man up and put her in her place !!!!!!!

Know why womens feet are smaller than mens? So they can stand closer to the sink!

Mine is SWMNBO (she who must never be obeyed). Remember, she can't cut you off if she don't know were yer getting it from in the 1st place!!!!!

Yea it's just dehydrated meat. They been selling that stuff for years. Just tell her to pick up some dehydrated water to fix it up........

Like Roy say's, no reason not to eat them if they taste ok. Pork fat takes on a rancid flavor long before it posses any kind of health risk.
Have your wife ask the vet about feeding uncooked pork to dogs or cats. It's supposadly risky for them to even chew uncooked pork bones.

That aside, for years now,my nickname for the "47% voting blok" is "Meat begger Hounds". Why?
Because in the old days of home processing, the dogs were there snatching anything that hit the ground or became ungaurded on the tables. Amongust the usual neighborhood dogs would always be dogs we had never seen before. The strange dogs had never helped guard the farm or joined in a wildlife hunt but was right up front waiting for thier share. Far as I know, the fresh meat never seemed to harm them.

If I am going to argue with my wife, I'm gonna pick something more worthwhile than a old porkchop. Besides your dogs will love ya!! :)

LOL we got married almost 39 years ago (next month). She stood in front of a bunch of people and promised to "love, honor and obey". I can see the steeple of that church where she told that big "obey" lie from my farm yard.

Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn"t.

If the burn isn"t bad, I usually try to trim it off.

Freezer burn can make meat taste really bad, almost like it was spoiled.

You made one serious mistake... you told someone. Never tell anyone something was freezerburnt.
You did everything else just fine, onions, marinate in a sauce, you did well. Next time you just use fewer adjectives....
"honey, I found a (blank)10 pound box..of (blank) porkchops (stop). I will cook some tonight before you get home, and the rest can marinate till we eat them the rest this week".... see? now you are sweet!! insted of cheap....
