farmall H power upgrade

i was told that i need to put a farmall 350 engine head on my H to get the power i am looking for when pulling. is this so and what numbers do i need to look for. i called someone and they have a head but the number are 861479R1 and i called the IH dealership and they have nothing on them numbers. any help will be appreciated

Calling the FiatCaseIH dealer for parts for a 60+ year old tractor isn't gonna work. I got laughed off the phone by a parts guy when I wanted parts for a 25 year old tractor.

If you have a 8043DC gas head now, the 350 head won't help much if thats the only change on a H. Casting # is 361479R1 for a 300 and 350 gas head. also there's a 362533R1 gas casting. If a distillate or kerosene head yes it will help. Most times the cast # is located on top of the head under the valve cover.

Daniel You can change heads but a good head shop is what you need. We put larger valves, plane the head, better springs, port the openings, and various other tricks. Good pulling head can run a thousand on up depending on all the tiricks done. However you can put all the pistons and work in the bottom if you don,t do the head all is naught.

the head i have is a kerosene head and it needs a rebuild and instead of putting that head back on the motor i thought bout putting a 350 head on it rebuild engine using stepped head pistons. i have to rebuild the governor cause the motor wont turn up right. i pull back on the throttle and the motor turns up slow and then all of the sudden the rpm's shoot up fast.

the casting numbers 361479R1 is from a 300 and 350 but i called my local IH dealership and the most knowledgeable person there couldnt find them casting numbers anywhere.. is it a propane head, high compression head or low compression gas head
