IH 300 Steering Problem

Hey everyone,
First post here, hopefully someone can help me out. I recently had a problem with the steering of my 1955 International Harvester 300 utility tractor. I took the steering box apart and found that one of the gears had broken. The manual refers to it as the lever shaft. See the picture links at end. I've looked all around (the internet) and called dozens of junkyards, but I can't find this part. Does anyone
have any ideas where to find this? Because I can't find the new part I'm thinking I
might upgrade to power steering. I tried contacting Jackson Power Steering (http://jacksonpowersteering.com/) but never could get a hold of him. Does anyone know what I'll need to switch it over and where to buy the components? Thanks in advance.

Been there. Done that. My IH 300U broke the pin that drives off the sector gear. I built my own power steering set up. Cost was around $700 for steering motor, cylinders, and hoses. Best thing I ever did. Am doing the same thing to my 350U now. Why put old manual steering back together when PS is so easy to do.

Thanks. I think I will switch to power steering so that I can use the front loader without having it rip my arms off while steering. I found a junkyard in eastern OR that has an old power steering unit, but I'd rather have new more reliable components. Where did you find your steering motor, cylinders, etc? And is there anything I should look out for? I'm an okay mechanic, but I know next to nothing about hydraulic systems.
