How do I keep my 5" grader blade in the ground and not just drag about the top and move no dirt? Which mounting hole do I use on the tractor for the "third arm". There are three differnt ones.

Also, the draft control lever on the right side under the seat seems to make no difference either.

Your tractor does not have"power down".It uses gravity,as do all 3 point tractors.Your ground is simply too hard for pemetration.Use the lower hole. The multiple hole are there to 'adjust'sensitivity for draft control.

Probably have to put some weight on your blade. Your tractor does not push down! Just a few old I H did, that I know of. Have your top link level when your tool is down. The 3 holes are really for draft control. The bottom hole is for heavy loads like plowing. The top hole is for light jobs like cultivating. etc. I generally use the bottom hole for everything, It tends to make your tool flip up a little more so you gain ground clearance. Vic

The 3 pt system on an 8N does not have down pressure.

Normally you would just change the angle of the blade by
adjusting the top link to get the desired results.

If you want to force it down, hang some weight on the blade.

The position/draft selector has a specific purpose, and that is to either control
the height, or let it "draft" with tillage equipment such as a plow.

You would notice that difference easily if you were to try to lift your blade and
hold it at a specific height. In draft mode (down/horizontal) it will/should drift.
In Position control mode (up/vertical) it will stay where you put the touch control lever.

If it doesn't work that way, your tractor may need some work.

My son had the same problem with a 9N and dearborn blade a week ago. A couple of IH 100 pound suitcase weights solved the problem. It dug in so well he spun out a couple of times. Jim

I don't know which hole to use, but to make the blade cut you have to shorten the top link. You will have to go by trial and error. HTH

the otheres are right hang some weight on it thats the only way to make it bite, as to the upper 2 holes, and the draft control, unless your going to pull a plow, just forget them thats what there for, and thats all, the lower hole is for everything else to mount the upper link in , the draft control feature will only become apparent when your using a plow, "power down" is a bad feature on a row crop tractor as IH found out, the more pressure you put on the implement, the less you have on the rear tires, then you wind up with something like a plow stuck in the ground and your tractor spinning and digging itself in, thats the beginning of a very long day!

If you have to "shorten" your top link to get your blade to 'suck',the cutting edge is worn out.Look at it, I'll bet it resembles a 'sled runner'.Your top link should be set to where the blade frame is level/parelel with the ground.
