Electric furnace for Mobile Home

I am looking at electric furnaces. I cannot find a site that will tell me what size or duty of furnace I would need for a 16 X 80. Anybody got any ideas?

There are a lot of HVAC guys on this forum Nathan, I am not one of them.
I have learned that there are a lot of variable in that equation, such as the size
of the rooms, placement and size of the ducts, etc.
Someone with a lot more knowledge than me will certainly be along to help, but
if you can provide more detail on your setup it may make it easier for them to help you.

I had a new heat pump installed in my place a couple years ago and then about a year later my mom had one installed and in both places it was the exact same unit my place is a 14X70 and her is a double wide. Both have 3 ton units in them

I got a Coleman Presidential II 7600 right now. I can't find any efficiency rating for this furnace anywhere online. It melts alot of snow on the roof so my guess is it lets alot of heat up the chimney.

Getting propane out to our remote location can be a problem at times. I already get reduced electricity rate for another building so I might as well add the house too. I like the idea of no wasted heat.

How far north are you? Makes a difference.

I have Geo Thermal heat with electric backup heat.

The electric backup is 10,000 watts for here in Iowa. The house is 1800 sq. ft. with a full heated basement. The backup heat coils are enough to heat in the event my geo thermal goes haywire.

Melting a lot of snow on the roof means you don't have enough insulation. I don't know what you can do about that with a trailer.

Nathan, It sounds like you have a poorly insulated trailer. Have you considered a packaged heat pump with a gas pack? An electrical furnace really sounds like it will cost a small fortune to operate in South Dakota. You could use a tank if you don"t have lines to your place. Electrical heat is very expensive. I have no idea what your air conditioning needs are in hot weather, being that I have no idea how hot South Dakota summers are. The gas pack is a pretty efficient heat source, and even in a packed A/C unit external to the trailer, it should keep you nice and warm.

What furnace are you going to replace? Gas, Oil, heat pump

What is the cost of electrictiy in your neck of the woods?

Do you have 2x6 wall? R = ?

What's the R rating in your ceiling?

Windows, Good or poor ones?

Look for the Amana "Motel Unit". 220v heat and A/C unit all in one. You can get a reduced electric rate if you go to electric water heater and range/oven, the "all electric " rate with a seperate meter.

Look at the btu's on the furmace you have now. The manufacturer had to do a load calculation before they installed it.

You will have to install a bigger elec panel to use elec heat & I'm betting you won't be happy with the cost once you're done.
