Minnesota Deer Opener

Well, I had good luck this A.M., 6 point buck.
Darn now I have to start the long list of projects piled up for "after deer season".
Any other YTmag hunters have luck this A.M.?

Youth hunt here in Missouri this week end then next open for gun. Was out with my nephew this morning and he missed a small buck. Missouri youth are children form 6 to 15 open for gun or bow for every body else

I live in Indiana. Archery season started October 1. I have had a serious ear infection since September 2. I have not been out of the house much and never to the woods yet. Hopefully I can get it cleared up soon.

Bow open 9/29 and so far I have a couple older doe's in the freezer. Had a nice 8 point come within sight but never cleared the brush to shoot at. A small 6 point walked up within 15 yards, but I was sitting on the 4-wheeler looking for a tresspasser and didn't have my bow (figures)....

In ohio bow opened sept 27 missed a nice buck on a last minute shot early. With the storm and cold snap they r running hard now last night after work had three different bucks in front of me a bruiser can out late and chased other two off never got him in close.. But in the tree now as wee sleek and wife is on other side of the swamp hoping we got them covered.. Gun opens Monday after thanksgiving youth weekend is weekend prior to thanksgiving

In my little corner of the state we are still in bow season. Primitive Firearms opens the 10th and regular gun season does not open till the 17th.
The real fun runs from Dec 8th to Jan 20th when they will be running them dang dogs.

The buck only Hurricane Isaac impacted area is only about 2 miles south of me. I suspect it will be a couple of years before we are back to normal.

Michigan"s "real" season not open yet. Had a 2 day "early doe," "youth," "handicapped" season in September. Bow & arrow season runs from October 1st.... Rifle season (shotgun southern,) opens November 15th. For me, that"s the REAL season. Then there"s more bow and arrow, muzzle loader and archery in December. I like the rifle, and indulge in the muzzle season, but the weather can be against you in mid-December. Can be brutally cold and miserable.

And here in Wisconsin, they can shoot WOLVES
also. Speaking as someone that wouldn't kill it
unless I intended to EAT it...How do you fix
Wolf? Or do they just kill them for the wanton fun of killing?

Grandson (14) bagged a 6 pointer that dressed out at 155 pounds. That's a middlin' big deer for Maine.

He's some proud of himself, and justifiably so in my opinion.

I haven't been out of the house to hunt this year, but I've already cut up three.
Early youth hunt this year, the neighbor kid went out for the first time, got his first deer.
He's eight, and got an eight point buck.
We told him he would have to add one point each year!

There was a very large buck near me about 20 min before we could shoot this morning, so didn't have a chance at it. It was quite a long ways away, and since I am in the shotgun zone didn't shoot.
I did get a small 8 pointer this afternoon, then we seen another buck but once again, only in rifle range.

I've been construction inspector on a large box culvert installation the last 3 weeks. We've commissioned a USFS trapper to trap beaver and lower water levels for our pipe installation. He is also a wolf trapper for NW part of Minnesota. Told me general public"s outlook on wolves is to paraphrase " a little Walt Disneyish" These things are cunning killing machines. They are killing and eating domestic hunting dogs right off the tie-outs in yards. They"re becoming more aggressive and less afraid. Personally, I"ve come across more in my daily travels in the last 2 months then I have in the prior 39 years. Some population control is going to be necessary.

Yep, true. It's also true that all the city dwelling, vegetarian types want these poor little puppy looking animals saved and are whining that there is a season on them now.

Can't even shoot a 6-pointer here in SE MN anymore. Thanks for that Minneapolis hunters! It's like when they tried to make using live bait for trout fishing illegal only they didn't make the mistake of actually asking anyone who lives here how we felt about it. There was an uproar about the fly-fishing-only rule so they canned it, but the trophy buck rule just got silently forced on us. I guess I've always beeen a shoot-for-veal deer hunter anyway, so whatever. Still not happy about it, though.

Sounded like a war started. Around my town. Heard two guys have already been shot. I am staying out of the woods and fields. Until idiot season is over.
