O.T. Once upon a time

Once upon a time, in a small corner of a vast kingdom was a small place called YT FORUM. It was a place where many people from far corners of the kingdom came to discuss Things of common interest. They vowed to keep it just that way. But a great political storm brewed in the vast kingdon, and soon people were voiceing their political opnions here. Soon everybody was spreading lies and half truths about their favored candidates in this little forun. And the discussions got UGLY. And they drove away all the good people who just wanted to discuss old tractors. Including the author of this tail.

Kinda like the "fever" that happens in winter late Jan. or so, it will be over about Wed. Every tractor man is an expert politican this time of year.

Wimp!!!! LOL A good argument is great fun!! Rather than whine and moan about the fact we CAN talk and argue about picking our leaders be glad we have the freedom to do so. Talk to those that have lived in many other countries of the world where talking about the leaders can be dangerous.

If you don't like a post just don't READ IT!!! You are not required to read everything that is posted on this site or any other site.

If you wish to leave that is also a choice. I am glad you can exercise your freedom to leave or stay.

So good luck finding a place that is all milk and honey.

JD, I do agree with you that a good argument can be great fun and it does indeed bring out good ideas. It's what makes our country great, the freedom to hash it out instead of the opression of a monolithic heavily censored dictatorship. The costant grumblers who feel the need to inject their negative agenda into other people's posts gets under my skin after awhile. How can I avoid negative posts when I open a positive one that someone with a grumbling attitude has injected his negativity into somewhere along the line. I know, I just have to hold my breath a few more days. Jim

Totally different circumstances, don't think one can compare the two events. There is no chance here where one could be subjected to a foreign power.

(quoted from post at 05:30:39 11/03/12) Good Bye Posts are always made to draw attention and sympathy.Do you know what two words sympathy falls between in the dictionary.

dam..... that's prolly the most intelligent thing I've seen you type........... Proud of ya grasshopper....

Heartless old goat...............

I kinda figure a person has the free choice to post his opinion, at least so long as its not poofed or violates policy, and likewise a person ought to have the free choice TO NOT READ IT. If I dont like something I dont have to read it I figure. If I dont like a point of view I can choose to not follow or respond, but I dont try to silence the opposition and ban or censor it or things I dont agree with, do as the Liberals always preach, be tolerant and celebrate diversity and respect others opinions, right Libs???

Likewise a person has the right to visit n read and post here BUT ALSO SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT NOT TO IF HE OR SHE DONT LIKE IT HERE.

Everyons is entitled to their own opinions but NOT their own facts.

I choose to vist here and post and help my fellow friends n farmers n antique tractor lovers despite the fact there may be some things I dont like (but again no one is forcing me to read them) AND I THINK IF A PERSON DONT LIKE IT HERE THEY OUGHT TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO LEAVE AND NOT PARTICIPATE..... (Oops dont that already have that right?? How could anyone force people to stay here??)

Yall take care now best wishes n God Bless

Absolutely correct to the minute detail John!!!
We would never align our selves to be tractor friendly if all tractors were just different sizes of the exact same blueprint. (in the same way a Farmall H and M relate to one another) Diversity in points of view on mechanisms, and in politics prevent totalitarian thinking. You are from a green and Red foundation, I am from a Red and Blue. And we prosper from it. Jim

Lighten up Old Geezer...Its election time, then the 'after the election' discussions will be here for a little while. Then everything will return to "normal".

I for one would never come here if all that was discussed was tractors. How much air do I put in my tires, Will 80 weight gear oil ruin my engine, Will a 6 volt light bulb work on my 12 volt system blah blah blah. Whats the first tractor that you ever saw, Whats the first tractor that you ever touched, Whats the first tractor that you ever drove blah blah blah.

I come here because I like tractors and learn from others problems, but mostly because the people here have the same down to earth values as I do. Because there is a wealth of knowledge here on just about every topic from heating systems to stocks. And mostly because the people that post here are honest to goodness great folks. We all disagree about some things but I would bet that most people here would lend a helping hand to anyone on this board even if they disagreed with that persons political, religious, or otherwise point of view.

Geeze-

Tractor people don't live in a vacuum--well, most don't anyway. Most on here are interested in tractors, farming, agriculture and country stuff. But they also have thoughts, opinions and concerns about the other issues that are in one's daily lives--and discussion of those issues is the "seasoning" that makes this forum interesting.

Now-fasten you seat belt because I'm about to say something that you might not like: Experience has taught me that posts like yours usually come from liberals who don't agree with what is being said or don't want to hear what is being said. Hence, the playing of the "rules" card.

This will all die down to a certain extent late next week but I hope it never goes away completely. Tractor people have opinions and they have the right to voice them.

Have a good day.

Zachy--

Not sure what that has to do with the original post but if you are thinking right, you realize that decent Americans will say, "We have nothing to fear but external_link himself."

I totally agree that this forum would be dull (and much less visited) if discussion was strictly confined to tractors. People come here to talk to other tractor people, because liking tractors makes us all alike in many ways, even though we may have different opinions about things.

I appreciate the moderators for doing a good job on maintaining the boundaries and keeping the discussions between the ditches. If they didn't I can see how this site could get quickly out of hand. Knowing that the poof button exists serves to help most posters discipline themselves. The moderators are generally somewhat prudent, discerning and even lenient, but they do occasionally err by poofing some of my brilliant observations.

"they do occasionally err by poofing some of my brilliant observations"

Good one, Jerry!

Maybe the site sponsor could start another forum topic and call it "Coffee Shop". Then tractor talk can be about tractors and some of the other broader farm topics and Coffee Shop can be about any other topic anybody wants to rant or discuss, just like at the coffee shop.

Jim I wish I could have said that! I think that way, but can;t put it in words, when needed. That's exactly my thoughts, on the subject.

Hey John T if everybody that had one pieve with one or so subjects LEFT pretty soon the list would be empty. Now we don't want that do we.
