Allis B, carb adjustmt Question

I"m not a mechanic but I just "rebuilt" the Marvel/Schebler carb on my 49 Allis B. It seems to start O.K. choked but when I try to open the choke it dies. Its my first tractor. Can someone advise me?
Thanks, Larry

Larry, Is the main fuel jet adjustable? If it is, run it in, gently, and back it out approx 2 turns. Or, maybe the float is stuck up and holding the inlet needle to far closed.

If there is not an adjustment for the fuel as suggested, it may be that the chamber for the main fuel nozzle is not clean, also the vertical passage in the bowl for idle fuel may be clogged.

Could be a manifold leak. If the intakes on the manifold are not sealed good then it will run rough as it is drawing air and not having enough fuel which is why it will only run on choke. Been there, done that.
Crank down on the manifold bolts a little to see if they are tight and try again. You can also spray a combustible along the gasket to see if the motor suddenly picks up revs from the combustible.

Same if the gasket at the carb to manifold connection is leaking.

Just my $0.02

Tom, It doesn't have a main fuel jet adjuster. There is an idle adjustmt with a spring on the left side of the bowl cover. I've tried it in every possible setting and it doesn't even effect the idle. A relative was here a month ago and was playing with the governor.
