Have Ford truck with 351 engine starts good sounds good,no smoke until it gets warm,Then lots of gray white smoke.Anti freeze level stays good.BUT used 4 qts oil in 90 miles. Why not BLUE smoke ? Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks GP

351 Cleveland or 351 Windsor??? As for the smoke you maybe see if wrong since gray and white are close to each other. How many miles does it have?? What oil do you use etc etc

I can not say but then who knows what may have been done to one over the years. I knew of a 1957 Chev that had a ford engine and transmission sitting in it

im guessing a windsor and the intake manifold is leaking coolantwhere it meets the head,as coolant dont go thru the intake on 351

the 351C was only in cars, I think about 74 was lastC, then M was in cars and trucks, ,I think 80 pickup was last of them, the 351 W was used in cars and trucks from 69 until about 96 in trucks, forget when the last car had one but I think it was maybe a 91 police car, but might have been replaced sooner than that

(quoted from post at 21:51:01 10/29/12) Did they put a Windsor in a truck?
I thought it was only Clevelands in trucks and Windors in Mustangs, etc.
hought wrong. sorry.

id you read the man's post before responding? no answer necessary! "Anti freeze level stays good.BUT used 4 qts oil in 90 miles."

sounds pretty normal for a C or M engine with over 100k on the clock...400's were the worst oil burners...i dont recall any 351 C or M's from factory in trucks but they will bolt in to replace a 400M.
year, model would help diagnose what you have.
