had one of those moments yesterday

i pumped a 100 gallon of diesel from my transfer pump into a 200 gal gravity flow tank that sets up on a for legged frame yesterday .i drove past it today and noticed i left the 2inch plip lid open
its been lightly raining ever since yesterday i wonder how much water actually got in it.

The water will go to the bottom. Drain some diesel in a glass jar and see how much water is in it. Do it a couple times till you don't see water. My Cat has a drain on the tank just for that.

How much rain did you actually get? You say the inlet is 2 inches. If you had a half inch of rain, pour a half inch of water on a 2 inch diameter cup. That's how much water got in.

Rick it would have to be a hard substained rain to really cause any issues. At least that is my experience. I would follow the othere advise, try and drain off from the bottom if possible and add a quart of power-serv or good conditoner.
Don,t think you will have any problems.

Figure out how much rain you got, say 1" then figure out how much water is in a cylinder the size of the opening and that's how much is in the tank. If it's a 2" opening I would guess about 1/3 cup, if you got 1" of rain. I doubt if you will find any in there unless there was something funneling it into the opening.

Drop a quart of dry gas in it. It'll absorb the water and you'll never see the difference.
