An offer I couldnt refuse.

Got a call this morning from a fella Im aquainted with, said I got a JD 6 ton wagon gear in my yard and am tired of looking at it. Before I got real excited he said one rear tire dont want to roll and the tires are bad shape with a couple flat. I ask the price, $50. I say I will be right over to check it out. Get a car hauling trailer,go over and its not so bad. Pay,load it, and bring it home. Hook it to the H to pull it from the trailer. All four wheels roll fine. Tires are so heavy that air or not they will roll around till I get some other ones. Decided to see how well it pulls as it seemed real tight. It pulled down the road straight as an arrow. My question is; is there a way to identify model number? It is expandable up to 16 or so foot. 15" wheels.Square tubing frame.Think the wheels are 6 bolt.Have to recheck. The man told me where he got it from and was insistant that the told him it was a 6 ton gear. I dont care one way or another, its going to be a toy to me. Look out Beatle65 I have one peice now and am on a roll.LOL

Them tires are going to be expensive Mike.
Are you sure you don't want me to come get it and save you the money?
Sounds like a great deal!
Congrats!

My dad put a 18ft flat steel truck rack on a JD gear added a tandem axle and eventually took it to Canada to pick up a field cultivator. It went 60+mph all the way there and back. I have another one with a gravity box on it and it will go 50mph straight as can be. They made a great gear.

I think I will hang onto it just a little bit. I did find some tires from the silage pile that were there due to no tread. With tubes they will do whatever I want to do. Has been a good day. The told me he had bought some hay 4 months ago and hauled it down the road 60 and it stayed straight and true the whole trip. Cant decide what to do with it just yet other than have it.

sorry Im not. I have only been west of the mississippi once to go to the national toy show in 97 at dyersville Iowa and to waterloo to see J.D. factory.

Sounds like a great buy to me. Definitely clean and repack the bearings. I have two older Kilbros gravity hoppers on Sears David Bradley running gears. I was expecting the worse but I was able to clean and repack those bearings. All were still good. I had to buy new tires and tubes though.
