O/T New Scam???

Got a call on my cell phone today, a male with a VERY heavy Spanish accent.

I could barely understand him, but I got the drift that he was calling from Windows, and something about someone hacking my computer.

I hung up on him, but I think it was a scam and somewhere down the line he would have asked for an email address, or for info more personal.

The tip-off was him calling on my cell phone. I can't recall being asked for a phone number when legitimately registering a computer or software, but if I did I would have given our land line number and not my cell phone.

Has anyone else run into this?

My wife has been getting them on her cell phone. She could never understand what he was saying. He calls from 75813312. I tried to have Verizon block it cause he calls at all times and usually rings in again shortly after the first call. Verizon said it wasn't a legitimate number so they couldn't block it. Only 9 numbers show so it isn't legit.

I got the same call from someone. I thought they were from India but maybe it was Mexico.I hung up and he called back so I sat at the desk(not near the computer) and played along for a few minutes, but after I told him the computer was being slow and the files he wanted weren't coming up very fast, I started laughing and he hung up.

I received a call on my cell phone a couple of days ago. The man spoke with an accent and there were people talking in the background so loudly that I couldn't understand him. Funny thing was, he asked for so-and-so, when I told him that party didn't live here he went into his pitch anyway. I told him that I couldn't understand him because of all the noise and he hung up. I wouldn't have given him any information anyway. I frequently tell people like that to learn so speak English and then call back.

Not that one, but a couple weeks ago while I was out delievering fuel the office girl got a call, they asked for the manager. When she told them I was not in they started explaining that I had a grand child in prison overseas. She said that was impossible because his children are 7 and 3 yrs old they hung up. How odd that they ask for the manager but didnt ask for me by name. Big Scam!

Got an email not too long ago from my 'aunt' saying how her trip to Spain was a disaster. The hotel room was robbed and now they had no money and the embassy was no help at all. 'Please send money'. I almost fell out of the chair laughing as I had been to this very aunts home the day before visiting. That was one fast trip to Spain. Probably a world record for speed.
Didn't give the email a second thought. I just pushed the little button that makes things magically disappear. Besides I thought if my uncle wanted her back bad enough he would 'send' the money.

These people are to be used for our amusement, string them along, play stupid/insane, talk dirty to them etc., amuse yourself at their expense, the possibilities are endless.

My younges son got a very professional sounding call saying his debit card was messed up and asking for his account number and pin. These scams are anything but new.
